THE DATE
"Are you ready to make your order now?" The waiter asks them.
Camilla controls her excitement down to a wide smile and sits still. She looks at the menu and all she sees is Lisa and her holding hands in the garden and going through Ethan's wristwatch collection.
"I'll have the chicken soup and French baguettes," Ethan says placing his menu card neatly on the table in front of him. Then he kooks up at her, "What would you have?"
She gulps and licks her lips slowly, looking at the menu again. The letters were not sitting around she couldn't read them. Dropping the menu in frustration, Camilla turns to the waiter.
"I will have what he is having," she says rubbing her nose.
"Good choice. Are you a fan of chicken?" Ethan beams.
Camilla scowls at him. "Not exactly. I just can't bring my brain to focus on any of the letters in that thing," she says glaring at the menu like it is her enemy.
Ethan throws back his head and releases a burst of low masculine laughter that sends electric bolts to Camilla's toes. She can't help but smile too at the handsome man in front of her.
"You are a phenomenal Camilla," he laughs. "Tell me something, what is your favorite food then?"
Camilla places a finger on her jaw and tries to remember. "Hmmm, I think it's onions," she says smiling in satisfaction.
"Onions?" Ethan asks, raising his brows in shock. "You like to eat onions?"
Camilla nods her head like a little child. "Yup, I love it!"
"But that is absurd! No one loves onions!" Ethan exclaims falling into another round of laughter.
"But I do!" Camilla defends herself. Growing up she has always found the vegetable to be a very beautiful creature and ever since she became old enough to hold a knife on her own, she has been eating onions like oranges
"Ewwww, your boyfriend is going to be in so much trouble!" Ethan smirks.
"Why? I don't have a bad breath." She says with a shrug.
Ethan shakes his head in denial. "No, Camilla, you do have a bad breath. How can you not have a bad breath after eating so many onions like they were apples!" He starts laughing again and Camilla gets up from her chair and leans over the table to reach him. She opens her mouth and blows air from it into Ethan's face.
"Tell me, do you smell onions?" She asks, with a smile of her own.
Her breath is like the scent of fresh berries in the morning. There is no single trace of onions scent. Not like Ethan thought she had a bad breath. He just figured since she loved onions she would have a mouth smelling of onions always.
At that moment, the waiter returned with their meals and Camilla has to sit back to allow him to place the tray on their table. He arranges the utensils nicely and professionally before bowing slightly again to leave.
"Thank you," Camilla beams to him as she claps her hand in excitement for the food looks very delicious.
The chicken is roasted with a lot of onions and this gives her so much joy she doesn't waste time eating.
"You will develop ache if you keep eating so fast," Ethan warns as he also starts eating his meal.
"Nope, I won't. The onions in here will protect me!" She gives Ethan a tight-lipped smile as she munches on the food.
"Which reminds me, how come, I haven't seen you eating any onions before?" he snickers.
"Oh, I don't want to give Jessie a new word to call me. Street rat sounds very original to me!" Camilla says.
Ethan drops his fork and stares at her. "Does she call you that?" He asks slowly. He hated it when people, especially cheap people like Jessie tried to mess with his mate. The feeling caused his wolf to feel so much pain that he wished he could see Jessie right at that instance so he could give her the talk of a lifetime.
Camilla sees his demeanor and she understands that he is angry out of instinct, she slips her fingers to reach his hands and she held them "I am fine. You don't have to be angry. I can handle Jessie-" she starts to say but Ethan stops her.
"But she can't be calling you such names when she wouldn't be able to take it if the case was reversed!" Ethan snaps dropping his fork.
Camilla squeezes his hands tighter and pleads with her eyes. she hates it when Ethan is angry about something and she can't do something to ease out his anger.
"Ethan, Jessie is more like entertainment for me. I will miss her badly if you send her away. Let her be, please," he says.
Ethan releases a long breath. "I will let it go because of you. But if she tries to be disrespectful to you one more time, she'll leave," Ethan says picking up his fork again.
"Okay, thank you. You are too sweet," Camilla says focusing on her meal.
As she eats, enjoying the taste of the chicken on her tongue, Ethan watches her. He smiles at the way she munches carefree, moaning and sighing as the taste hits her tongue.
"If you don't eat, I'll have to take your plate as soon as I finish mine!" Camilla mumbles with food in her mouth.
Ethan smiles and starts eating his meal.
Camilla finishes hers and pats her stomach, Belge in satisfaction.
"Should I ask the waiter to get you some onions?" Ethan jokes and Camilla rolls her eyes at him.
"You kept me hungry all morning. So you have to bear whatever I do, right now," she tells him.
"Tell me again why you like onions, I thought you would say spaghetti or chicken," Ethan says laughing again.
"First I find spaghetti to be like worms. Large worms.... " she says making a face. "And I can't eat worms."
Ethan laughs so much he can't even remember the last time he laughed this much. He and Camilla end up spending the entire morning in the restaurant talking about meaningless things and laughing like a bunch of teenagers.
It was late afternoon by the time they returned home. As the car parks in front of the house, Camilla notices Jessie's cold glare from the entrance.
As Ethan opens the door, he runs to Camilla's side and opens it for her, taking her arm to slowly ease her until the floor.
All these Jessie sees, she feels her heart fold in on itself. Why couldn't Ethan treat her the way he treated Camilla? Even when it relationship was at its best, it was emotionless sex and nothing at all. It is as if whatever he was searching for he found it in Camilla.
"Hey Jessie, " Camilla greets, shining her white teeth at her.
Jessie feels like giving her a slide comment but for once in her life she stops herself, remembering how defensive Ethan gets when someone says something negative about Camilla. To prevent his anger, she gives Camilla a tight-lipped smile and turns her attention to Ethan.
"Ethan, you've been gone all day, is everything alright?" She asks stretching her hands toward him.
Ethan swats away the incoming hand like is an infested fly." I am fine Jessie. Thank you, " he says trying to be polite and respectfully just like Camilla had advised him to be but deep within him he was angry at Jessie and all he wants is to throw her out of his house.
I am happy that she at least got a smile. Jessie watches as they take the corridors to the rooms.
Ethan is supposed to be hers. She will make sure he returns to her no matter what. Nobody is going to snatch him away from her. Ethan is too attached to Camilla. She will need to separate them. No, separation seems too easy.
She will have to tear them apart, so much so that, there will never be room for them to fix it.
To do this successfully she will be needing help and there is only one person in that household that can help her. The person is none other than —Sandra.
Jessie walks Into the house and goes straight into Sandra's room. She knocks gently on the sealed door.
"Sandra, I need your help!" Jessie says the moment the door opens for her.
Sandra looks at her and she feels her anxiety l. She knows at once that Jessie is funding because of something Ethan must have done.
Sandra grins because she will be putting Jessie in between Ethan and Camilla as a bug. The poor thing won't even know she is being used.
"Jessica, sit down and have some water, " Sandra tells her.
Sandra gets up to reach her fridge and hands, Jessie, a bottle of cold water.
"That bitch is stealing him away from me Sandra I need to go something!" She snaps, pulling her hair in frustration.
"Relax, Jessica. Together we can solve any problem. You understand?" She asks her trying to sound as sweetly as possible. But deep down she laughed at the human sat in front of her. The fool thinks she is the one getting the work not knowing Sandra is even more cunning than anyone she has ever chosen.
"That's why I came here. I know Camilla is a thief! I just need to catch her doing it but it's so hard for me." Jessie explains.
"That human girl is a thief?" Sandra asks. This is an even sweeter balance from all the news she had heard today. This piece can get her a lot of rewards if she plays her right.
"Yea, she is a two-faced thief! I know she is. The way she looks at stuff and sneaks around the house is confirmed. That girl is up to something bad and I need to be the one to blow it nap."
"Interesting..." Sandra exclaims. "So how do you suppose we catch her?" Sandra makes sure her voice is as believable as possible to not send a bad sign to her friend
"I will set a trap for her. I will place money in her room and see what she does with it. " Jessie says happily.
Sandra stares at Jessie from the corners of her eyes. How did she even become friends with her in the first place?
"Jessica that is a cool idea but placing it in her room won't be a good thing. Anyone can pick up stuff from their room too. And firmly claim it to be there." Sandra says instead.
"That is brilliant! You are so smart Sandra! That's why I came to you!"
Sandra only rolls her eyes, getting bored of Jessie's presence.
