Chapter 53

  NEW DAWN

Anita is in her room curled up on her bed with her phone in hand. As the sharp knock comes on her door, her heart flies out of her chest. She isn't expecting any visitor as she gets up, she tries to calm her ramming heart and still think of who the visitor might be. She didn't exactly tell her mother that she would be in her room and she won't be working. Did she find out?

As she opens the door, she is shocked to find the Alpha at her doorstep. A blush immediately creeps up her cheeks as she remembers what had almost happened between them. Her mother had sent her to offer herself to the Alpha in her wolf form. This way, he will never be able to reject her. The method is more like a forceful way of becoming one's mate.

Having intercourse with another wolf in their wolf form was the worst thing that could happen to a female worst. You become completely used when the male doesn't feel the same connection even after doing it. The feeling is so bad that no one wants to risk it. No one except Lady Zara, wanted her only daughter to risk having such an end.

"Anita," Ethan begins. "You will need to come with me."

A frown covers her face as she looks around wondering why she needed to go with the Alpha. It was at this point she noticed the gruff-looking guards behind Ethan. It was a sign that this wasn't an ordinary pick-and-drop operation. Something was happening and Anita knew instantly that she won't like it.

Being a timid girl she nods her head without complaint and follows them outside. As they walk to the stairs, she can't keep quiet anymore and watch herself be taken away like a sacrificial lamb.

"May I ask what is going on?" Her voice is barely a whisper as she asks the question.

Ethan moves closer to her and tells her. "We are taking you to your mother."

"My mum?" She squeaks as her brain begins to cook up the worst of scenarios. "What about my mum? Did she do something wrong?" And then she stops asking. Her eyes enlarge as another even more horrible idea comes to mind. "Did she get the sickness? "

"No, she is not sick." Ethan simply says but the answer only seems to put Anita on edge.

She swallows her fears and stays quiet. At least when they got to wherever they were taking her to she will get the response she needed.

Her questions are increased when the guards start taking the direction of the black hole but she remained quiet as her inner body started shaking. Thoughts flew In and out of her mind as she began wondering what she could have done that would warrant her getting thrown into the hole. She had settled the problem with the Alpha, or was he not satisfied with whatever her mother had said to him? Her mind becomes an ocean of thoughts but she doesn't show it.

The guards finally reach the post end of the black hole where their watch office is located and instead of just throwing her into the hole like she is thinking, they take her to the office.

She is shocked to find her mother in the cell. She raised her brows in question but her mother places two of her fingers to her lips asking her to keep quiet.

As the guards open the cell gates, she watches in horror as her mother takes out two pills from her pendant and places them in her mouth.

"What is she doing?" Anita stutters pointing a finger at her mother. Ethan follows her hand and runs inside the cell holding lady Zara's mouth but he is too late. She has already swallowed whatever it was.

"I am happy you brought my daughter... At least I get to see her one more time..." She whispers staring at Anita lovingly.

Anita understands what those words are and she runs to her mother's side. "Mum, what are you saying? I am here... You don't have to say anything. The alpha has friends who will help you... You will be fine..." Anita starts saying as tears form in her eyes.

She and her mother didn't have a close connection. Anita did not care about her mother since the woman forced her to do the weirdest of things. Lady Zara wanted her daughter to end up with the alpha so she didn't allow Anita to have a normal childhood. Anita didn't have any friends, she was trained as a loner and this affected her in the real world greatly but lady Zara is still her mother. No matter the crime she commits toward her, the woman still believes that.

"I am sorry for everything that happened... I only wanted what's best for you... Please be happy..." Lady Zara struggles and lifts her hand to cup Anita's face. A lone tear trickles down her eye and Anita hurries to wipe it off.

"Mum that's fine. It doesn't matter as long as you are here with me, it doesn't matter mum..." As Anita wipes her face, she realizes that she isn't moving anymore. "Mum?" She calls shaking her slightly. Lady Zara lives like a log of wood and that's when Ethan realizes that she is dead.

Anita collapses on Lady Zara's unmoving legs and starts crying her eyes out silently. Tremors pass through her body as she shakes through the sobs.

Ethan signals to the guards to step out and allow the young girl to morn her mother. He is not sad that Lady Zara divided to take her life, his anger is because she didn't say who she has been working for. She decided to die with the name to her heart. He grimaces and pushes his hand to the wall.

"Sir, I am sorry. I didn't think she would be having something like that," Max tries to explain seeing the anger in Ethan.

"It's not your fault, Max. I am just vexed that now I have to find this person all over again. They might even be warned and never sight them out again until they decide to do another operation," Ethan explains himself.

"Hmmm, okay sir. But what do we do now? We have no other person to question, except the girl, " Max suggests pointing at the crying girl in the cell.

"No," Ethan says, shaking his head. "She doesn't know what her mother was involved in. If she did she wouldn't have been surprised to hear."

Max nods his head in acceptance. The girl is indeed innocent she didn't know about her mother's affairs. She had suffered enough breakdown and growing problems that Ethan thought they should let her be.

"What do we do now?" Max wondered again.

"Now, we return to town and get everything settled. As far as we can see the war is over. "

Ethan then walks into the cell where the girl is sitting still crying. When he reaches her he bends on one knee and holds her shoulder, "you will be fine. Let me know what you need for her burial and it would be provided."

She nods her head but still keeps her head on her mother's lap.

Ethan and Mac return to town and a meeting is arranged for everyone. Both young and old. The problem had been resolved and now they needed to find a new gamma for the town.

In no time everyone gathered in clusters until the hall is filled to the brim. Everyone is interested to find out what their alpha has in store for there.

Ethan takes the mic from the guard and moves to the center of the podium.

"People of the Red Cross Moon Pack, we have found that which was the cause of problems here and we fought against it. And today, I am happy to announce to you that the storm is over! Whatever bothered me is no more! We are now free and safe!" Ethan's voice booms and the crowd cheers in happiness as people clap their hands while others jump in excitement.

"The team in the clinic has been trained on how to treat this ailment that befell us. As for the food, more will be provided... " another thunderous clap of appreciation and screams of job followed and Ethan has to pause to allow them to finish.

"I am also going to work with your new Gamma in renovating all the buildings at the beginning of the town where the food came from. Full-on renovation work will go in and I advise anyone who has property there should state so now, before the completion."

The joy in the hall can not be measured as people started hitting even the tables in excitement.

"Finally as to who would govern the affairs here..." As Ethan states this, everyone keeps quiet. A drop pin silence ensures as everyone waits to hear what Ethan will say.

Ethan has thought about it for a very long time. There is only one person he trusts enough to have that position and his mind will be rest assured that nothing will happen.

"Your new Gamma... Is Maxwell Simeon!"

The resounding screams of joy were deafening. The few days Ethan had left Max in charge of the town, he did an exceptional job. the people loved him and he loves them in return.

"It is indeed a new dawn for us all!" Ethan said ending his speech and passing the microphone to Max who is full of smiles. He didn't expect it. He thought he would get a few things but never did he think he will become the aloha.

"As the new Gamma, I promise to serve and not be served... I may not have a kit of experience but I have all of you to show me the I'm way correctly."

Another round of applause follows as everyone is excited about Max being their new gamma. Just like Ethan, their Alpha had said, it is indeed new dawn.

"May the party begin!" Max announces and within seconds music starts blasting from speakers and food is passed around. It is indeed a joyful day.

The party continues for days longer, Ethan wants nothing but to return home to Camilla. He tries to call her when he cans but he feels it is not enough. He counts the days for the party to be over quickly so he could go back to his mate.

The town has a new aura to it. There is no longer the choking smell of fear along the streets. There is no longer death. The inhabitants are more happy and welcoming, Ethan has indeed succeeded in bringing peace to the town.

The party is finally over and Ethan is packing his small bag when a soft knock comes on his door. Ethan throws his head to the door, wondering who it could be. He goes to the door to open it and there in front of him stands Anita.

"Alpha, may I speak to you?"

Ethan opens the door wider, inviting her in. He shows her to the couch and he sits with her.

"What did you want to talk about?" Ethan asks her

"I don't know if it's the right thing to do but... May I return with you to the main packhouse?" She whispers looking down at her fingers.

Ethan watches are body language and see that she is just scared and Ethan needs to know why. Moving her to the main packhouse was not a problem. She is a member of his pack and she is welcome to come to the house anytime she wants whatever her mum did had nothing to do with her. But he needed to know why she wanted to leave. "Why don't you want to stay here anymore?"

"Everyone here hates me. There stare at me like I am the one who destroyed the water... I didn't do anything I swear..."

"It's okay, the doors are open to everyone," Ethan assures her.
