Chapter 66

  TO CATCH A THIEF.

Sandra's silhouette moves away from the dark corner she was hiding, a satisfactory smirk finally gracing her face. She had waited for days for this opportunity to come. She had been patient and calm. She had been quiet. She took all the insults she got at the dinner table and in the house entirely.

She saw everything but she didn't say a word. Because she was a patient predator. She knew that her victim was going to fall into the trap one way or another. All she needed to do was wait for it to happen.

And tonight, she had been lucky. She heard Peter speak to Camilla in the corridor and she knew the human girl was up to no good. She had complained of a headache while at the dinner table and Ethan was ready to shake the entire house to make sure Camilla felt alright. But as a liar herself, Sandra saw through the human's lie. She had nothing wrong with her. She made it up.

After the episode, Sandra knew something would come up. She knew Camilla will make a move. Hearing her in the corridor was even more proof that something was up.

Sandra had silently slipped out of the house and went around to Camilla's side of the house. She got to her window area and waited. Tonight, she must get her breakthrough.

She sat in the dark waiting. Her eyes were fixed on Camilla's window as she waited. She didn't want to miss anything. She could be in her room and watch happen through her laptop, but she wanted to see this for herself.

Minutes passed and she almost gave up. But her waiting paid off when she finally spots the window blind opening. A finger snaked out of the window and raised it. Sandra could almost not contain her joy as she saw Camilla pass her legs out through the window and then the rest of her body.

Sandra almost giggled in excitement. She pressed her hands to her mouth as she held her phone with her free hand. She starts to take pictures of every action Camilla makes as her body moves out of her window.

At least this way, she will have extra proof. If they didn't believe the images from the camera, they will at least have no choice but to believe the ones on her phone.

Camilla scurries to the back gate as fast as her human legs can carry her and Sandra doesn't fail to follow behind her. She takes silent shots of her every move, making sure she is far enough for Camilla not to suspect a thing. If she were a werewolf, she would have been able to sense her presence. But humans were weak beings. They could sense nothing.

As Camilla runs out, Sandra smiles at the pictures on her phone. They were perfect. No one could deny the fact that it was Camilla jumping off the window and running out of the estate like that.

Sandra turned around to walk back into the house but her wolf senses got heightened immediately. She stops moving and sniffs the air. Someone is watching her from the house.

She starts walking to the house and just as she pulls the kitchen door open, she finds Anita holding a glass of water, ogling at her.

"What are you doing here by this time?" Sandra asks the girl. She has forgotten about the girl. Ever since her mother died, Ethan brought her to the estate to help her forget her pain. The girl has mostly been a shadow. Even during meals, she barely coughed. So Sandra had almost forgotten about her.

"I can ask the same question as you but I don't have to. I saw what you were doing..." The girl says, gulping down the glass of water.

Sandra narrowed her eyes as a scowl appeared on the bed's face. What does Anita want from her? Did she see her in the garden of Camilla's room?

"Whatever I do in this Estate is none of your business girls. Learn to know your space!" Sandra barks. She doesn't have to be worried about Anita. She is just a little girl and she knows nothing -nothing of what happened in the past and nothing in the present as well.

"That's where you are wrong Sandra..." She says, dropping her cup and circling the counter to come to stand right in front of Sandra.

"You trapped my mother into the mess that got her killed. You destroyed my town and now you want to destroy the Alpha's home and you expect me to keep quiet?"

Sandra feels like a thunderclap has been let loose within her. Her eyes enlarged as she looks at the girl in front of her. She is saying things that no one is supposed to know.

"I know, you are shocked. But I know everything and I have proof. I know it was you and if you dare cause problems here, I won't hesitate to tell the alpha!" After giving her speech, Anita turns and walks out of the kitchen leaving Sandra to her shock.

Sandra couldn't believe her ears. She thought she had closed up all ends. She had been extra careful. She never went for an operation herself and she kept to a pawn at a time technique -so that if any one of them got caught it would only fall on their direct employer and never her.

Yet, this little girl knew. Did Zara tell her daughter everything before she died?

Sandra was trembling as she thought of what would become of her if Ethan was ever to hear of this.

He would surely kill her with his bare hands.

Ethan was merciless when it came to punishing wolves that had cheated his people and pack. He didn't consider anything. He was firm and very strict.

She would have to appease Anita. The girl should need something.

For starters, she wanted Sandra to keep quiet about what she found out about Camilla she will keep it low. She will keep it low. She won't call In the council or create a ruckus like before.

She won't even show Ethan. She will have to think of something else.

She leaned on the counter and sniffed, she can't let a little girl like Anita play with her. She will have to show her that she was wiser. She will go on with her plan. But she didn't have to be the one to create the ruckus, she will use someone else. And the best person to use will be no other than the dear Beta, Peter. He is the beta he will have to eliminate a threat and Camilla is the threat in this case.

With a large smile on her face, she starts swinging her phone playfully around. Satisfied with her plan, she starts returning to her room.

If it was left to her, she would have gone to Peter that night and she would tell him everything, but Anita must surely be watching her, so she has to let it go.

Sandra retires to her room and just as she is about to lock the door she sees Anita passing through the corridor. Sandra pulls her door shut as fast as she could.

Anita had left her in the kitchen, how come Sandra got to the room before her?

That means Sandra's first assumption is true. Anita has been lurking around watching her. She will have to be careful. She will have to find a solution for Anita.

Sandra goes straight to her laptop and opens it. She checks the picture and certainly everything is in it. She will have to keep this till she got rid of Anita.

Sandra drops her laptop and lays on the bed. She closes her eyes, thinking of Anita and her threat. She will have to get rid of Anita.

Sleep soon took over her and she gave in to its pull. By the time she opens her eyes, the morning light has already seeped into the window and she groans as she turns her head to the side. She had been so worked up with her thoughts that she forgot to close her window blinds.

She stands from her bed and heads to the bathroom. Sandra takes her time in the bathroom, making sure her body relaxes in the tub perfectly.

When she steps out, she picks out one of her evening gowns and drapes it on her body. By the time the maid knocks on her door, she is ready. She pulls the door and steps out. Mary was about to move forward and she was shocked, to find Sandra outside.

"Good morning ma'am, " Mary greets unwillingly. She will rather greet a dog than greet Sandra, but it was her job to look good.

Sandra raises her nose in the air and walks past Mary. She never even considered the maid from the first day. Sandra had nothing to do nor worry about low beings like Mary.

At the dining hall, the moment she enters her eyes meet with that of Anita and Sandra feels her heart skip a beat.

"Good morning, " Sandra mumbles as she struts to her seat.

Ethan is at the table, and as usual, his eyes are fixed at the entrance, waiting for when Camilla will decide to come for breakfast. Considering how late she must have stepped in last night, she would be late again.

Peter walks in with a glow on his face. Sandra glares at him, wondering what got him so excited.

"Good morning folks!" He beams going to settle into his seat.

"Somebody seems very happy. May we share in your joy?" Sandra says feigning joy.

Deep down she wanted nothing but to tear away the joy from his face.

"Oh, it's nothing. Or do I need a reason to be happy?" Peter asks, turning a bright smile to Sandra.

She wanted to say something else but just at the time she opens her mouth, Camilla walks into the hall. Her eyes are bloodshot like someone who didn't sleep enough or someone who had been crying all night. But Sandra knew what was wrong with her, she had not had enough sleep.

"Good morning Ethan. Good morning Anita. Good morning Peter," she greets everyone, and then she turns to Sandra and nods her head.

"Good morning, " Anita and Peter chorus.

Ethan doesn't answer. He stares at her, wondering what had gotten into her. She didn't look like she was doing good.

"Camilla are you okay?" Ethan asks and Sandra rolls her eyes.

"She couldn't have a good night's sleep that's why she looks like that, " Sandra comments.

Anita drops her fork to the floor and the sound catches everyone's attention.

Sandra is almost immediately, reminded of the threat Anita had given to her in the kitchen a couple of nights before.

"Is that true? " Ethan asks Camilla. "You retired white early last night. What happened?"

"I think she looks more like she had been crying..." Anita whispers but she does it enough for Ethan to hear.

"Camilla?" Ethan asks. He is almost about to jump out of his seat and run to her but the table is him from moving too hard.

Camilla taps her cheeks dramatically and then looks up smiling.

"I am good. Come on, let's eat!" She squeals and like some mind link, Mary moves in with their meal and like a tradition, they all fall silent, as they start enjoying their meal.
