Chapter 68

  Leave My Heart.

Peter can not believe what he is seeing. Camilla is truly the one in the picture. He tries to look through more carefully to see maybe the picture was photo-shopped but it came out clean.

He had his doubts about her and her intentions at first but the way she looked at Ethan had convinced him that Camilla wanted Ethan too. What then was she doing jumping out of her window and sneaking out like that?

"Do you see what I see now?" Sandra says and Peter snaps out of his thoughts.

For a couple of seconds, he had forgotten that she was still in the office with him.

"I do not want to cause problems, Peter. I want to change. That's why when she brought it, I took it from her and kept it. Please take care of it, I don't want this situation to be blown out of proportion like the last one."

Peter stares at Sandra and fits the first time, they both agree on something. He nods his head and gets the pictures back into the envelope. He then safely stores them in his drawer.

"Thank you for showing me this Sandra. I owe you one, " he tells her and she smiles.

"I will do anything for you, Peter. I know you feel I am very cruel but that is just on the surface, deep down you know I am not like that..." She whispers in a sad voice.

Peter feels bad for her. His heart goes out to her pain and he squeezes her hands gently. "I am sure we'll figure something out. But right now, I need to get to work immediately concerning this matter. If Ethan hears of it he will be devastated and it is our job to prevent it or alleviate the effect..."

Sandra gets up from the seat she is occupying and a small smile sits on her face.

"I believe you can handle this perfectly, Peter. My days of fighting for a position with you are long gone... Do try to take rests in between and if you need anything I am always available to help you."

There is so much sincerity in her voice Peter has no choice but to believe her. "Thank you so much, Sandra. I hope this change is truly here to stay."

But Peter doesn't know that even this is a cruel plan Sandra has carefully drafted. If she had presented the picture as hers, Peter will hate her and if at the end of the day, it turned out wrong, then she will be put the shame. So, she had to make it look like Jessie was the one who brought the pictures, even if she is the one who took them.

Sandra laughs gently, tucking a strand of her hair away from her face. "Of course, I shall be leaving now. I'll be in my room if you need me."

Peter watches her leave and he smiles. If Sandra has truly changed for the better then it is a good thing because he liked the woman. Even if a relationship will not work between them, they can at least be good friends.

Peter shakes his head, driving thoughts of Sandra away. He needs to solve this problem before Jessie decides to up her game and find Ethan herself.

He brings out the pictures and goes through them again. He remembers the first time he had seen Camilla hanging around the back gate. He also remembers seeing Lisa hanging around the estate. There is something the girls were hiding and he has to find it. Just like Sandra said, it is his job to prevent it or alleviate the problem before it gets to Ethan.

As Peter thinks hard, only one thing remains in his head. the only person that can solve this problem is Lisa. He will have to go to her.

He grabs his car keys from the table and walks out of his office to the car pack. He takes out one of the Mercedes and drives down to Lisa's place. From the few days he had spent stalking her, he knows that by this time, she will be home, sitting by the balcony and she will count the people walking below.

Peter soon got to Lisa's place and he maneuvers his car along with their building. The elevator in the building had gone off, so he takes the stairs, two at a time to Lisa's place.

He knocks once and Lisa yells from the house. "I am coming!"

He takes a step back and waits for her to open the door.

Lisa peeks through her door hole and she is surprised to find Peter standing there. She runs back to her dressing table and pats down her hair. She checks herself quickly in the mirror, before running back to the door.

"Look who decided to pay me a visit!" She says despite the thumping in her heart. He didn't look happy, his eyes were narrowed and she can tell something is in his mind.

"Lisa, we need to talk, " he simply states.

Lisa steps away from the door and motioned for him to step in. Her hands get sweaty all of a sudden and she has to fold them to try and calm herself.

She pulls two chairs to the balcony and offers one to Peter while she takes the second one.

"Do you need water or juice perhaps?" She asks him, hoping he accepts. If he doesn't it means whatever he wants to talk about isn't a good thing at all.

  "No, I am fine."

His response brings a large lump into her throat and her hands start fidgeting on her lap. This is not going to be good.

"So, what is going on?" She asks him. Lisa hates tension and dramatic pull. If whatever he wants to talk about is going to be a bomb, then it was better to just let it out completely without fuss or more drama.

"Lisa, I know Camilla is your friend but tell me this, where does she go when she sneaks out of the house?" Peter blurts and Lisa feels like a bomb has truly gone off inside of her.

This is what she feared and she had told Camilla to leave, but the redhead had refused. Now Peter is finally on to her.

"Camilla, " Lisa says tucking her hair behind her to buy more time. "Where did you get such a hideous idea from anywhere?"

Lisa can swear that she saw Peter's eyes change color as his face morphed into anger. He doesn't say a word as he brings out the envelope Lisa didn't even notice. He brings out the pictures and passes them to her.

Her hands her shaking as she goes through the picture. Camilla was captured jumping out of her window again and they took pictures of her til the point she ran out of the estate.

"Lisa, please if there is something I need to know. Please tell it to me. Is Camilla in some kind of trouble? Who does she go out to meet?" Peter asks, his voice shaking with emotions.

He hates the fact that even Lisa tried to lie to him. He only wants the best for both of them. If it was a situation that was dangerous, he could solve it for them. If she was being threatened or something he would help her out. All they have to do is to talk to him.

"Camilla is fine okay? You need to stop controlling her every movement like this!" Lisa says feigning anger. She needs Peter to leave so she can call Camilla and warn her about the impending doom.

"You think I am controlling her movements? I only want the best for her. I am only looking out for Ethan here! How do you think she will feel when he sees this!?"

"He should feel however he wants he isn't her guardian it's something!" Lisa says getting up from her seat. She can't bring herself to keep lying and yet staring into his eyes.

But her response makes Peter angrier than he is because it sounds more like she is speaking to him about their relationship and not Ethan and Camilla anymore.

"Does she have someone else in her life? " Peter asks, slowly getting up from his seat.

This will make a lot more sense even if it will break Ethan's heart.

"Answer me! Is she seeing someone else?" Peter yells.

"Do not yell at me, Peter! I am not answerable to you, and neither is Camilla! Your friend should guard his heart and you both should face your affairs and leave me and my friend alone!" Lisa barks sending Peter's heart-shattering on the wall behind them.

"Lisa..." Peter calls trying to get close to her.

But Lisa is too pissed off at the moment to listen to anything he has to say.

"Do not touch me, Peter! I do not want to see you anymore, please leave!" It breaks her heart to send him away like this but she has no choice left. Peter is starting to dig too far and she is left with no choice but to end whatever it is they thought they had.

"Lisa, please don't do this. I am only trying to help. I only want to help you and your friend!" Peter pleads to reach for her hands but Lisa turns away from him with her hands folded firmly across her chest.

"Peter please leave!" Her voice is shaking and her mind is having a battle with her heart but she has no choice. She can't go on pretending they can make anything work.

Peter remains standing as he looks at her. He sees the way she is fighting her emotions and it breaks his already shattered heart. He cares about Lisa. Yet there is always something that seemed to pry them apart.

"If that's what you want, I'll leave then. But I will return Lisa because I can't stay away from you..." He whispers as he turns around to head to the door.

Lisa fights with herself to stop him but she lets him go in the end. It is for the best even if her heart is aching.
