Chapter 77

  The Mate Search.

  (A few hours earlier...)

Ethan went to get Camilla water but the bar at the hall didn't have water. He had to go to the upper floor to get the water from their store or wait for the drunk bartender to bring it. Weighing his options, getting the water himself was his best bet.

He left the party hall and took the stairs to the store. He and his friends had used this event hall a couple of times for their get-togethers and other functions. So he knew the rooms and their functions like the back of his hands.

Ethan got to the top floor and went straight into the store. It was a large room that should have been cold but there was never enough electricity so they only kept goods that they knew would not perish under room temperature. There were large drawers and fortunately each was labeled.

He started checking the drawers one after the other but he felt a sudden longing pulling in his heart and he smiled. Camilla must be missing him, he had spent quite a time getting the bartender to find him a bottle of water and finally coming all the way up to get the water himself.

Using his wolf eyes to make his search faster so he could return to Camilla, Ethan found the drawer with water and he went to it, he pulled it open and picked out two bottles of water. He closed back the drawer and exited the room.

As he got to the even hall, he noticed everyone was gathered at a spot and his heart necessarily skipped a beat. He wondered what had happened in his absence but a smile formed on his face when he realized Camilla was there, so she would tell him what had happened.

But the closer he got to the corner he had left Camilla, the more he realized that the people were centered at that spot. His smile fell off his face and his heart was no longer beating unnecessarily. It was beating for a purpose. Something was wrong.

Pain jolted into his stomach and he knew something was not right with Camilla. In the crowd, he spotted Jessie and he confirmed his fears. He needed to get to Camilla.

Ethan clutched the bottles of water in his hands hard and sniffed the air to find where Camilla was, but he couldn't find her scent. He turned around sniffing, yet she wasn't there.

"Jessie!" He growled and everyone turned to look at him.

Jessie stared back at him with as much fierceness as she could muster.

Ethan's hands shook. His claws threatened to erupt out of his fist and he wanted nothing but to rip Jessie's throat out. He knew she had done something horrible to Camilla.

"Where is she?" He growled again. This time smoke escaped from his flared nostrils. He looked like he would burst from the hot anger boiling from within him.

"Oh, please Ethan doesn't make another scene. Your cheap street rat has gone. She ran off probably with people's property! " Jessie replied with the attitude that sent Ethan's head to another dimension.

People were giving him a pitiful stare. They weren't even scared of his demeanor. They weren't paying attention and that was a mistake.

Sandra saw Ethan and she slipped between the guests trying to stay away from the picture. She was always for the benefit. If the results of Jessie's drama turned out great, then she would step forward and support her. But if it turned against her, she would present the video in which she had been pleading with Jessie to let Camilla be.

Ethan became blinded by rage. Jessie had dared to insult his Camilla in public. He howled and launched the bottles of water in his hand at Jessie.

Jessie screeched in fear as she saw the bottles approach her like missiles, aimed at killing her. She covered her face and braced for impact. But she felt nothing.

"Why!?" Ethan howled and Jessie started shaking. Fear took over her and she knew she would have to find an explanation and quick if not she was not only going to lose Ethan to the low life rat, she risked losing her life as well.

Ethan growled again and Jessie opened one eye to see what was going to happen now —and why the bottles hadn't crushed her yet.

In front of her stood one of Ethan's friends she never really liked —mostly because he never liked her as well. It was none other than Marcus.

Jessie was shocked to find her apparent enemy holding the two bottles in his large hand. How he even got in front of her in good time to protect her she didn't know! She wanted to open her mouth to thank him but Marcus gave her the cold lifeless glare he always carried and she closed her mouth.

She only wanted to thank him, she thought as her lips wobbled on her face in fear of Ethan.

"Ethan, you do not have to hit a simple human. No matter how irritating they may be!" Marcus said still glaring at Jessie. "She isn't worth the trouble that comes with all of that! Stop it!"

Jessie immediately became grateful that she had not thanked him for saving her life. The guy was a snake. A fucking cold snake!

He wasn't defending her he was completely against her. He just stopped the bottles of water missiles from reaching her because it would have landed his friend in some sort of trouble. If it was legal to hit women, the fool would have happily let those bottles hit her precious face, Jessie thought as she slowly took a step backward.

"Why!?" Ethan repeated and she realized that he had said it to his friend and not her.

Marcus dropped the bottles and walked up to Ethan. He held his shoulder and tried to turn him away from the scene that had slowly drawn the attention of TV and Radio reporters. It wasn't every day the country's most eligible bachelor got into a fight and tried to physically harm a woman.

But Ethan brushed Marcus hand's off. He didn't care about them. If the media wanted to record, they could go ahead and record. All he wanted was to kill Jessie for whatever she might have done to Camilla.

"I will not leave here until she tells me what she did to Camilla and after that, I am going to kill her!" Ethan whispered through clenched teeth.

Marcus moved closer to him so that the media present would not pick out his words. He spoke just above a whisper. It was so low that only a supernatural could hear the words he uttered.

"The media is here so you had better watch what you speak. You can settle this brawl in your house!" Marcus said holding firmly unto Ethan's upper arms. To onlookers, they looked like they were hugging one another but they weren't.

"I have nothing to settle with that pest! I will slit her throat and save the world from her kind! The world doesn't need to have people like her!" Ethan spat as he tried to move, Marcus held him.

"The more time you spend fighting with this pest, as you call her. Your mate is halfway across town crying her heart out... Chose your priorities well!" Marcus retorted and the mention of Camilla melts his resolve.

"Where is she? Did you see where she went?" He asked Marcus. It was now his turn to apply brute force in Marcus' upper arms.

"I saw her leave. I do not know where she went that's why I advise that you move now..." He told him.

"Thank you, Marcus!" Ethan called out as he broke away from their embrace. He ran straight out of the door and into the night.

He didn't even bother checking for his driver. It was going to delay him. He had to find Camilla on his own. He wondered how she would be feeling at that moment. Jessie must have humiliated her to the very point her confidence broke and she decided to leave.

He ran around searching but he couldn't find his Camilla. He felt his phone ding in his pocket and he remembered he even had that he could call her.

Ethan was standing at the city square, he brought out his phone and dialed Camilla's number. it rang out for several minutes, yet no one answered. He tried multiple times but the same thing happened.

Where could she be? Did something happen to her?

He opened his message box and wanted to send her a message when he notices the video in his inbox by an unknown number. His heart was racing and jugging restlessly in his chest as he opened the video.

Ethan's eyes almost fell out of his sockets in shock as he realized the video sent to him was a video of what had happened. He watched in horror as Jessie humiliated Camilla.

  Jessie had gone too far.

The more Jessie spoke on the phone the more anger boiled in Ethan. His hands itched and his wolf was at the surface. It was taking control. Jessie had gone as far as hurting Camilla in public. The whole world now saw her like a pickpocket.

He had brought Camilla to that party to give her a taste of his world. He never thought Jessie would do such a horrible thing.

Ethan ended the video and slipped his phone into his pocket and turned in the direction of Jessie's house.

She had better be prepared for what is coming her way.
