Confused in Love.
The entire house was seated around the dinner table and they all enjoy their meal silently. As usual, Mary had done one of her specialties and they all gathered around to eat as required of them but the tension was very high.
Sandra was ogling at Peter, waiting for him to start the conversation about Camilla and Ethan. So that she could slip in how she had tried to help reduce the situation.
But Peter, his mind was elsewhere. He was thinking about how to make Ethan and Camilla reconcile. Lisa had informed him of the demands Ethan had made to Camilla. He knew that Camilla didn't have the money and the demands would only make him push her into committing even more crimes. Peter wanted them to be together. Camilla should open up to Ethan, but the tension in the room only grew stronger and in turn, it turned the delicious meal into something tasteless in their mouths.
Camilla on the other hand was busy thinking about what she could steal from the house that would be easy for her to carry and still get enough time to slip out of the house to sell. She could have asked Lisa to help move them to the sellers like they used to do. But Lisa had stopped every form of pickpocketing. She was going to have to do it on her own.
Ethan watched Camilla from the corner of his eyes. He knew she was up to her old ways again and though it broke his heart, it irritated him that his mate still stole for a living. He provided everything to her. He gave her clothes. He gave her food. He gave her a space to stay in. He did everything, yet Camilla always acted like she needed more.
What could she be needing the money for?
She had something she was hiding from him and he was going to find it.
Still, he had his doubts about her. Another mind told him, she didn't do it without a good reason. Yet all he needed was that reason. He could confront her but he needed proof. To get the proof he wanted, he had left a trap for her in his room. He would have to wait to see if she had truly touched the trap.
Camilla suddenly dropped her fork after barely touching her food.
Everyone turned to her, wondering what was the matter.
"Are you okay?" Anita asked.
Camilla looked at her and blinked. "Yes, I am- I mean I am not doing okay. I have a headache."
"You may go rest in your room," Ethan muttered, glaring at Anita. She was trying too hard to get Camilla and this was starting to piss him off.
Camilla gratefully got up from the chair and walked out of the dining, squeezing her face like she had aches in her head. Once out of the hall, she moved as fast as she could to Ethan's room. She had to find something that could pay for her father's bill and enough for her to save for him.
As she searched through the covers, an old envelope caught her attention. She sliced it open and check what was inside.
"Oh my God!" She exclaimed as she gawked down at the notes in the envelope.
It looked old and forgotten, she was sure none was going to miss it. So she took it. She transferred all the cash in the envelope into her pockets and fixed the room the way she had met it before running into hers.
If it was before she would have been scared that Ethan might come to check on her but tonight, he wouldn't. She closed her door with a key and rushed out through the window as usual. She tiptoed her way to the back gate and moved out to get a taxi that would take her to the hospital.
She got a taxi and she directed the driver to the city hospital.
During the ride, her mind went back to the humiliating scene with Jessie and she shook her head sadly. How did she even get into this mess in the first place?
She should have just told him she didn't have any memory lost in the first place -she thought regrettably.
But there was no point sulky. The worst had happened. What she needed at this point, was the strength to keep going.
"We are here ma'am," the driver said. She looked out the window and saw that they were at the hospital.
"Thank you," she waved at the man after she stepped out. she paid the man his fare and walked into the hospital.
She went to the doctor's office and gave a sharp knock before pulling the door open.
"Good evening Doctor," Camilla greeted the man and went to take a chair opposite him without being told to sit. She had come to get answers about her father's treatment and she would get it.
"Good evening Miss Camilla. How are you?" He said trying to sound as polite and casual.
Camilla openly rolled her eyes at the doctor...
"I didn't come here for Petty talks. What's going on with my Father's treatment. We have been at it for months now and nothing seems to work. He hasn't shaken ever since he was brought here, is there something wrong? Is there something we are not doing?" She asked the man.
The man moved his glasses up his nose and folded his hands on the desk.
"Miss Camilla, we have had this discussion before. We are doing all we can. But your father is the one not responding to treatment. "
Camilla nodded her head and looked at the window behind the doctor's office. They had told her about her father not responding to treatment several times but she was starting to doubt them. If they continued at this pace the man might never actually wake up.
"Do you want to request the removal of his oxygen?" The doctor whispered misinterpreting the conflict in Camilla's eyes.
As the question settled in her ears, she jumped out of her seat.
"Never! Don't you even think about it, doctor! I am paying for it am I not?" She snapped as her eyes burned fire.
"Please calm down. It was only a suggestion. Nobody is going to that without your permission. " the doctor explained to her.
"Whatever, but if anything happens to my father, you guys will pay severely," she warned. "I'll be on my way now."
Without waiting for the man's response, she got up from her seat and went to her father's ward. He was in the same position he had always been.
The sound of beeping machines is the usual tone around the place. Camilla got in and held his hand. She kissed the back of his hand and said a quick prayer.
She needed her father to wake up so they could leave the country and go start all over at some new comfortable able place where no one had to humiliate her for what she did for a living.
"Wake up soon dad," She finally whispered to the lifeless man on the bed. She placed one more kiss on his forehead and got up.
She left his room and went to the accounting department to pay his bills. The money she had taken from Ethan was enough to pay for at least four weeks. But she paid for just two weeks. The remaining cash with her, she would save it, in case Ethan was serious about being paid back she would hand it over to him.
As she finished with them. she quickly walked out of the hospital and flagged down another taxi that would take her straight home.
Back in the house, she slipped in silently through the back for the oor as she did. She walked to her window and jumped in. Immediately she got in there was a knock on her door and her heart skipped a beat. Without being told she knew it would be Ethan.
What could he want now?
She quickly messed up her hair so it would seem like she had been sleeping and then went to the door.
"I have been at your door for close to an hour. Where were you?" Ethan snapped.
Camilla opened her mouth to explain but no words came.
"I must say, I find it very suspicious. There is no way you would have been sleeping under the noise I was making..." Evan trailed off, watching her closely.
He had truly been at her door for over an hour. He sensed her scent leaving the house and he went to confirm. To his surprise, she truly wasn't there. At first, he thought she had run off, but when he came to sniff around her room, he found out she hadn't carried anything, not even her phone.
When Ethan picked up her scent, he had already decided that he would have to go after her l, the next time she leaves the house like that. He needed to know where she constantly ran off to with the money —sadly she had fallen into his trap of his. When he got to his room after dinner, he found out the money he had dropped in the old envelope was gone. Just as he thought, Camilla had taken it. He had been able to confirm that she was stealing from him, what was left now was for him to find out where she went off to most nights.
"I was in the shower," Camilla lied through her teeth. "I didn't hear you."
Ethan smiled. There was only one way of finding out. He would have to follow her to where ever she went off.
"Fine then. Since you are fine, I shall leave. You should rest!"
Ethan left her door and she quickly pushed it close as she rested against the walls. That was a close call.
She would have to be strong and smart.
Camilla brought out the money left in her pockets and she kept them in a small box. When she was satisfied, she changed her clothes and slumped on the bed, tomorrow she would think more clearly.
A loud shrieking sound woke her up from sleep in the morning. It was the sound of a person screaming at the top of their lungs.
Camilla got up from bed and walked out of her bedroom. She followed the direction of the sound and it led her to the living area.
"My daughter will stay here Ethan! You can't do anything about that?" Mr. Thompson yelled at the top of his lungs.
"I am afraid, your daughter is not welcomed here," Ethan said and Jessie realized another shriek.
"No!! Ethan what about the baby?"
"What baby?"
Everyone turned to where she stood and that was when she realized that she was the one that had spoken.
Jessie laughed out loud as she took slow steps toward Camilla.
"I see you are still here. Well, let me tell you for free that I am pregnant with Ethan's child. And my Daddy is going to make sure we stay married!"
Camilla felt her world begin to spin. Her heart was racing and it was pumping so much blood it was becoming hard to breathe and she almost had to gasp to keep from falling.
"Jessie!" Ethan snapped. "Get out of here!"
"She is not leaving until a test is done! To confirm that the baby is yours!" Mr. Thompson said. Defending his daughter.
Camilla slowly slipped away from them and retreated to her room. She regretted ever coming out.
She couldn't continue standing there. Her head was spinning and she couldn't say exactly why she was having these feelings. Her blood was being pumped too fast. She was losing her mind completely. Ethan wasn't hers -they might have shared a thing or two but it was nothing serious. Yet, the news she heard from Jessie was breaking her heart.
