Forgive Me Not.
Ethan placed a finger on his temple and slowly massaged it. Everything was turning inside out.
This was not how he planned on starting his day. He didn't wish for Jessie to be the one knocking at his door this early in the morning or anytime at all. He had wanted to spend his time finding all the information he could about Camilla and not trying to make Jessie understand that he wasn't responsible for whatever she had in her stomach.
Now, Jessie didn't just come knocking at his door alone -if she did that, then it would have been easier to just throw her out.
She came with her father -whom Ethan didn't really want to hurt because they were business partners.
But as the matter was progressing, Ethan might end up having no choice but to hurt Mr. Thompson for his own peace of mind. He couldn't keep getting migraines over a father that couldn't control his own child. He couldn't keep stressing his morning over meaningless things because of a man that knew nothing about his spoilt daughter.
"Thompson, I respect you a lot," Ethan began.
"But you don't expect me to take something that doesn't belong to me, do you?" Ethan asked him firmly. He was tired of going back and forth on the same matter. It was obvious that Jessie just wanted a way into his life again and she wanted to use a child she had gotten from the trenches against him.
What insolence!
Mr. Thompson spread his arms out in the air, looking confused. He looked at his daughter and back to Ethan and took a deep breath.
"You are saying that you are not responsible for the child. Yet my daughter claims it is yours. She isn't twelve years old. I am certain she knows whose sperm turned into the baby in her. But, so I won't be partial, She will have to stay here with you, till we can do the paternity test for the child."
Ethan passed a hand over his hair. "Really?"
Was he joking with him?
"That's the problem. I don't want her staying in my house because just as you have said, I am no child either. I know which woman I had dumped my sperm in!" Ethan exclaimed. "Whatever Jessie is carrying isn't my child!"
He was a werewolf! An Alpha at that. He would know if she was pregnant for his child at least.
"Ethan, you can't be so certain. She is a woman, she would know better!" Mr. Thompson snapped shaking with rage.
Ethan scoffed passing another hand over his face in frustration.
Peter walked into the room and narrowed his eyes. "What's going on here?" He asked Ethan.
Ethan pointed a dangerous finger at Jessie. "She claims she is pregnant with my child!"
Peter moved his eyes to her. He glared at her from head to toe. A smirk appeared on his face and he looked at Jessie.
"Have you called the doctor to confirm how old the pregnancy is?" He was talking to Ethan but his sneering eyes were on Jessie.
"Oh, I haven't. Please place a call through to him." Ethan scolded himself for not thinking of it earlier. This crazy issue cab is solved in seconds! Their technology didn't need to wait for a child to grow older before a test could be done. And if the child was too little, it would also prove that Ethan wasn't responsible for it.
Peter immediately dialed the number of the pack doctor, Adams. The doctor picked up and Peter walked to the side to hold a conversation with him.
Ethan sat on the chair and waited for Peter's return. The sooner Adam got here the better he would clear up everything and Jessie plus her annoying ignorant father could leave his house for good.
The last time he had sex with Jessie was a lot of months ago. He couldn't possibly be responsible for the faint heartbeat in Jessie's stomach. It made no sense!
First, she humiliated Camilla at that party for no reason but to make her feel bad and to push her out of the house. Now she claimed to be pregnant!
She was trying to make a fool of him!
"Okay, Adam is on his way. We just have to wait," Peter told them as he walked back inside the room.
Jessie looked pale all of a sudden and Ethan rolled his eyes at her. It was obvious she was lying about the whole thing but there was nothing he could do about it but wait. Adam would be here soon and every doubt can be cleared.
His mind was phasing to Camilla, even as he sat with Jessie and her father.
Ethan had seen Camilla a while ago when Jessie was shouting about being pregnant. She looked hurt. His wolf was worried about her but at the same time, he was angry because she had refused to confess her activities to him.
She had to just confess it.
It was that simple. He could take care of her every need why would she then hide the truth from him?
"I have served breakfast sir," Mary whispered to him. Jessie had come to the house so early in the morning that they didn't even have breakfast. Now that it was ready, Ethan had already lost his appetite.
"Oh, it's fine. Tell Camilla and Sandra to go eat. I'll rather wait." He wanted to settle all the problems before thinking about his food.
"Okay, sir," Mary responded, scurrying to where Sandra stood.
Mary finished informing Sandra and went to Camilla's room. She met Camilla outside. She was in the corridor, pacing around lost in her own thoughts.
"Camilla?" Mary called and Camilla stopped pacing. Her eyes were wide open like a deer in the center of the road.
"Yes!" She squeaked.
Mary frowned at her demeanor. "Camilla, food is ready. Are you okay? Is it about what Jessie is saying?" Mary asked.
Camilla shook her head denying it but Mary knew better. She had stayed long enough in that house to know exactly what was going on. Mary hated seeing Camilla like this especially due to something that wasn't true. She couldn't keep her mouth shut.
"Jessie is lying. Sir Ethan, hasn't been with her ever since you came into this house. So how can she be pregnant for a man she hasn't been with?" Mary asked Camilla.
Camilla stopped pacing. At first, she wanted to deny it again. She wanted to tell Mary that she wasn't thinking about Jessie and she cared less about it. But her heart was restless. She felt like a thing of hers was being taken away from her.
"But she could still be months pregnant!" Camilla found herself saying. She couldn't keep the worry out of her mouth.
Maybe this was why Ethan had been acting strangely to her. He was having an affair with Jessie but it didn't make any sense. Why would he do that?
He had been acting as he wanted her. Was he just trying to use her? Was she just a toy?
Mary shook her head, smiling.
"No, my dear," Mary said and Camilla stopped asking questions in her mind and listened to the woman.
"The last time they were together was months ago like I said. That means we would have been able to spot the baby bump by now. She is lying like always, okay?" Mary said patting her shoulder. "It is you Sir Ethan wants."
Camilla blushed at her last statement.
Her heart flipped over in excitement but she wasn't sure that was what her head believed. If he wanted her, why did he fight her? Why did he ask her to pay back for everything he had done for her?
Her blush turned to anger and she started walking toward the dining room for her breakfast even if she wasn't hungry.
"You shouldn't say things like that," Camilla muttered under her breath.
Mary followed after her. She was older, so she had seen the way Ethan and Camilla looked at one another, they were both just too stubborn to admit it.
"But I am not lying to you Camilla, it is the truth. Sir Ethan likes you a lot." Mary insisted as she walked behind Camilla.
Camilla felt like punching the walls at this statement. Her heart was hurting and her brain was angry. "If he likes me why is he asking me to pay for what I owe him? Where will I find that kind of money from? Where?" She exclaimed. This had been troubling her mind and even if Lisa had advised her to use his own goods to repay the debt he had placed on her, she still felt terrible doing it.
Mary chuckled softly behind her and Camilla stopped walking. Her blazing eyes burned into Mary's face.
"Why do you find this funny Mary? You think it is a joke?"
"No, my child. I know you feel hurt but I know why Sir Ethan is doing this. He knows you can't pay him. He is just doing it so that he can have a reason to keep you here, can't you see?" Mary said holding her shoulders.
Camilla went over the words one after the other and she saw the truth in Mary's words. It made a lot of sense that he would do that but one thing still bothered her.
"What about Jessie?" Camilla asked.
Even if she believed Mary and Ethan were only doing this to keep her with him. There was still the situation with Jessie. She was pregnant. She couldn't even imagine coming in between a mother and a father.
Mary waved her hand dismissively and pulled Camilla along with her.
"That pregnancy doesn't belong to Sir Ethan. Jessie is just being a drama queen!" Mary retorted with a roll of her eyes.
Camilla wanted to comment on Mary's words but she swallowed her sentences. They had gotten to the dining area and Sandra was already there, nursing her place of bacon and rolled bread.
Nobody knew Sandra's position in the house so it would be better to just stay away from her. She seemed like she didn't support Jessie anymore. Yet, she wasn't friendly with Camilla either. It would be best to keep their opinion to themselves. It was like a mental message between Mary and Camilla.
The moment they stepped into the dining room, there was like a mind link between the two of them the conversation ended immediately.
"Hello," Sandra said the moment Camilla sat on her seat.
"Hi!"
Camilla managed to mumble as she settled into her seat. She pulled her tray forward and Mary arrived with her meal.
There was silence in the room as Camilla tried to finish her meal as soon as possible and return to her room. She needed to see her father again today. She would have to sleep well in the afternoon so she could have the energy to go in the night when the whole house was sleeping.
Since Mary had mentioned that Ethan was only asking her to pay for the money it had spent on her as a ploy to make her stay in the estate longer, she would have to go pay for more weeks of her father's treatment.
"I am sorry about the party," Sandra said and Camilla looked at her in confusion.
Did she say something else earlier or had Camilla zoned out again?
Camilla dropped her utensils and wiped her mouth gently. A frown had formed on her face as she glared at Sandra.
"What party?" Camilla asked.
Camilla already had an idea of what Sandra would say but Camilla decided to play the fool. She and Sandra were never invited to the same parties aside from the one that Ethan had taken Her to. So that must be the party she spoke of.
"The red carpet," Sandra replied. "I should have tried harder to stop her from saying those horrible things to you. Please, find it in your heart to forgive me," Sandra whispered.
Camilla didn't know what to say.
She was shocked that Sandra was asking her for forgiveness.
