CHAPTER 92

  Failed Games.

"How?" Camilla asked in a small voice.

Lisa moved to the window and hugged herself as she thought of the perfect lie.

"Someone sent him the video and he knows the person well enough to track them and get back your father. The only thing he wants from you is the truth Camilla," Lisa said turning to stare at her with water dancing in her eyes. "Don't you want to get daddy back? Please Camilla," Lisa said running to her side.

"Please, just do what Ethan wants so we can get daddy back."

Peter saw this as the perfect opportunity to even confirm Ethan's feelings about her hearing.

"If he wanted to hate you, don't you think he would have sent you out of the house by now? Because that video was sent to him way before Anita's incident happened. But he said nothing. He still took care of you. Don't you think he deserves some kind of truth at least? He loves you Camilla that's why he is giving you the respect to come out clean on your own. Please! Don't break his heart further," Peter told her with sincerity in his voice.

There was a saying that when you wanted to lie, you had to put in enough elements of the truth in it and it would be believable.

Peter had just perfectly merged lies and the truth in one long speech and Camilla was buying it.

She was quiet. What they said was true to her ears. And it was starting to dawn on her why Ethan had withdrawn himself from her these past days. He had stopped talking to her and checking up on her the moment the doctor declared her well.

So he knew back then that she had a father who was sick but she never told him about it?

She sniffed and wiped her eyes.

He loved her. At least that was how she felt when they were together. She would hold on for him. She would wait for his heart to soften. All she had to do was show him her pain, once he saw how broken she was, he would tell her where her father was and she wouldn't have to talk about her past with him.

She wiped her face clean and got up. Lisa feared that she might harm herself and she ran after her.

"Where are you going?" Lisa asked her.

She turned around and gave Lisa a toothy smile. "To wash my face and go back home. Everything will be fine now."

Lisa was shocked because she had just been crying a minute ago and suddenly she was fine and even promised that things would be fine.

Camilla walked to the bathroom and closed the door behind her.

Lisa placed her ears to the door to confirm if she only wanted to clean her face.

She then turned to Peter and walked to him. "You think she is in shock?" She asked him in a low voice.

Peter had his fingers on his jaw and he shook his head. "I think she has thought of a plan. We just have to wait and hope that it isn't a crazy idea that would make the situation worst for the both of them." Peter pulled Lisa into his arms and they stood a few meters away from the bathroom door waiting for Camilla to step out.

Minutes later, she stepped out looking somewhat less crazy. She had combed her red hair and packed it up in a chignon. She also washed her face and the puffy next around her eyes had gone down to a less obvious level.

"Lisa, thank you so much for being the best friend I have always needed-" she began to say and Lisa held out her hands screaming for her to stop.

"Are you wishing me farewell or what? Camilla does not even think about things like that- "

But Camilla threw her head back and chuckled softly, despite her dried voice. "I am not going to commit suicide, Lisa. I was only trying to thank you for always taking off of me. Peter, you are so lucky to have her..." She said smiling at them.

Peter kissed Lisa by the side of her head and mouthed a thank you to Camilla.

"Okay, I'll be leaving now. I am sure everyone is worried about my whereabouts," she said with a small smile.

She was heading to the door when Lisa pushed peter after her.

"Hold on, I brought my car, let me drive you home." Peter offered.

"Oh, what about Lisa? I can manage on my own!" She tried to insist but Peter held her arm firmly and blew a kiss on Lisa.

"Take care, honey! I'll call you!" He shout whispered as he started leading Camilla out of the apartment building.

He opened the car for her and made sure she was settled before going to his side to drive.

Though Camilla had assured them that she wouldn't commit suicide, he and Lisa still feared she might pull the suicide card if whatever she thought didn't work according to plan.

The ride to the house was quiet as Camilla, laid her head to the window looking at the city hospital building behind them.

"Don't worry dad, I'll find you," she whispered to the window and the heat from her mouth left graffiti against the windows.

Peter had heard what she said, his only prayer was for the goddess to find a way to convince her to confess the truth to Ethan for that was the only way Camilla would find her father.

Peter knew Ethan like the back of his hand, he knew that Ethan would never change his decision. It will be either she spills the truth or he continues holding on to her and her father for the rest of their life.

Peter didn't know how Ethan was able to control himself with Camilla around. Mantell the gods themselves. Any normal average werewolf would have given up on the wait. and they would have marked her a long time ago. But not Ethan, he was ready to wait his entire life for her if it was possible without going insane.

They finally got to the estate and due to the traffic they had encountered on the road, it was already late in the evening as they proceeded into the compound.

"Thank you for the ride," Camilla called as she stepped down from the vehicle before Peter could open the door for her.

Peter nodded, placing his hand on his waist. One they needed a change of heart.

Camilla moved into the house and as she passed by the living room, she was met eye to eye with Ethan's angry eyes.

"If you plan on sleeping out of my house, you should at least have the decency of informing someone. A lot of kidnappings happen these days, I don't think I have the manpower to start searching for you," he growled getting up from the couch he had been seated on. It was obvious he had been waiting for her to return, good -she thought to herself. All she had to do now was to continue carrying a long face so that he could have mercy on her and tell her where her father was.

She dropped her head to the polished ground until she was sure he was gone before she started making her way to her bedroom. The way he had spoken to her was evident that he cared about her a lot. He had been worried about her whereabouts and the fact that he even mentioned kidnapping showed that what Peter and Lisa had said about Ethan knowing her father's location was true. All she had to do was play her part.

But what she thought was going to be a simple task became a very difficult one. Camilla grew sadder every day. Her plans were not working. She was trapped in her own game and she could detangle herself from it.

She tried all her power to make Ethan even look at her but it was like she became invisible. Nothing she did matter anymore.

Camilla cried every day as the realization that she was not just losing Ethan but her father as the days went by dawn in her. Ethan was extremely angry with her and only the truth could set her free.

But was she ready to speak the truth?

The answer was no. Camilla feared the outcome of her actions.

She could no longer deny that she had developed feelings for him and she wanted him, her heart could no longer take the denials her brain sent.

  She loved Ethan.

Now, did one tell the person they loved that they had been stealing from them? Or that she had lied about her health condition to steal from him?

Where would she get the strength to do that sort of thing?

Camilla slumped on her bed and cried even harder. What was she going to do?

The game she had thought she played so well had turned against her and she had nowhere else to go but to say the truth.

A knock on her door made her raise her head from the bed and she quickly wiped her tears with the back of her hand hoping it was Ethan.

Her heart raced and she played this was the day she had been waiting for. She hoped Ethan had finally noticed her pain and had decided to come to talk to her about her father's location and his feelings for her.

But when the door opened, her racing heart was disappointed it was only Mary.

"Camilla," Mary whispered holding the door slightly open. She saw the disappointment in Camilla's eyes and she understood.

"May I come in?" She asked her.

Camilla didn't even have the strength to speak. She felt her heart shatter to the floor and her lungs hurt by the sheer act of taking in air.

Mary came in either way and sat by Camilla's bed.

"Camilla," she started speaking. Her fingers found Camilla's hair and she gently caressed and massaged it.

"You have been crying in your room for days now. What's going on? I have also noticed that you and Sir Ethan barely speak to one another these last few days. Is everything alright?" Mary asked worriedly.

Camilla sniffed and turned to tell Mary not to bother but she remembered that Mary was among the few Ethan listened to. She could convince him on her behalf.

"I am sorry but I called your friend, miss Lisa and she said her hands were tied and that you knew what to do. Camilla, what is it?" Mary insisted.

"I don't know..." Camilla cried out. Hoping to convince Mary that she was innocent and that Ethan was the one she needed to speak to. If everyone bugged him to speak to her, he would surely listen. "Ethan has refused to speak to me and I don't know why..." She lied.

It was easy for the tears to spill because she had been crying real tears Long before Mary came to her door.

"Now now, dear. Are you sure? Because I have spoken to sir Ethan and he said the same thing Miss Lisa said. You know what to do," Mary said and Camilla felt her heart skip a beat.

Her plans to convince Mary had gone down the drain. She had already spoken to Ethan. More tears spilled out of her eyes and this time she didn't even try forcing it. It came out in response to the pain her throbbing heart was feeling. She was going to die.

"Camilla, what is it that's so hard you can't let it out? What could be so difficult to spill out? " Mary asked and her questions felt like pins in her heart. How was she supposed to do that?

She had thought the pain she felt when she walked into that ward and didn't meet her father was unbearable. But right now, the pain of losing Ethan was more than unbearable she felt like dying and there was no one she could talk to.
