CHAPTER 93

  Selfish Lies.

"Camilla, what is so difficult that you cant tell Ethan?" Mary whispered to her.

Mary's words were like whiplashes on her body. She couldn't stop herself from crying. The tears kept flowing as Mary said each word.

"I am not here to judge you, my dear, I am only concerned for you. You can't continue living miserably like this. You are a beautiful young woman with a bright future ahead of her. You don't have to keep denying yourself of some things just because you are scared..."

Mary shifted closer to her and pulled her hair away from her face.

"Camilla, you know the saying, the truth will set you free? It's not a mere fantasy that it was said and is still being used right now. The truth does set us free. You might not be happy with the outcome but it will surely make you less sad that you had cleared your name."

Camilla snuffed and her tears were no longer flowing in a rapid mass like before. She sat up and held her knees to herself. Mary had told her things she couldn't just ignore. They were the bitter truth.

Mary held her face between her palms and smiled. "I know you are scared. But that is only normal. Get up and take control of your life, if not for anything, do it for your dead parents," Mary said pulling her into a hug. The fact that all her friends were ready to keep her secrets to the point that even Mary didn't know that her father was still alive, broke her heart. She cried bitterly into Mary's chest and Mary rubbed her back gently, whispering comforting words to her.

"Everything would be fine in the end, you'll see," She told her as she continuously patted Camilla's back.

They remained like this for a long time till Camilla had stopped crying and only sniffles came out of her body. She had cried all the tears out of her body.

Mary broke away from the hug and got up to her feet. "I hope you feel better my child," she said to her as she held her jaw lovingly.

Mary walked out of her room and Camilla felt her heart sink even further down her body. She seemed to just be existing without as much as a heart.

Everything Mary had said to her started returning in a thousand and she knew she had to think about it. Her life was not going to come to an end if she said the truth to Ethan. Worst case scenario she would just leave the house and stay with her father for the rest of his life. The shame she was already feeling would make it impossible for her to even think of stealing again. She would just stay with her father, till heaven decided to take him away from her. The little she has with her, she would use to survive.

A sharp pain suddenly came to her heart as she recalled that she might not be able to see her father. She might lose everything.

She might have already lost everything due to her stubbornness.

What was she going to do if her father died because of the time she had wasted?

"Oh, God! Please! No!" She whispered getting to her feet. She would confess everything. She would tell Ethan.

She can at least comfort herself from losing him to her father than for her to lose everything. She rushed to her feet and wiped her face clean.

She didn't care anymore about anything. She would go and tell Ethan everything she had done to him and hoped that he forgave her at least.

She pushed her door open and went to check his room. She wanted to push the door open but she remembered he barely wanted to see her, pushing the door without his permission was surely going to make him angry.

She didn't want more anger. She just wanted to be free like Mary had advised her. It was better to free her heart than continue living in misery.

Camilla took a deep breath and knocked gently on the door.

Ethan was inside. He had felt the turmoils in her heart before she even lifted her finger to try and push the door open the first time. He knew what she wanted to do and he was happy she had finally come to her senses. The goddess had finally replied to his prayers.

But he was also hurt. He also needed time to think. He wanted her to feel the way she had made him feel.

She had taken advantage of him. She had lied to him without mercy despite all the love he showered her with. His wolf whined in his head at the intensity of the pain she was released from the door.

And then he remembered the day she had come from the hospital she was going to bargain her lies with her father's life. Thank the goddess he had kept her father with the best of doctors, if not, she would be a murderer. She would have signed off her father's death on her own.

He didn't want a cruel Luna. That was why he had to teach her a lesson. He would not give in to her easily even if his wolf was dying to hug her and tell her everything was going to be fine.

"Who is there?" He asked making his voice sound firm and angry.

"Ca- Camilla..." She stuttered. Her heart skipped a beat at the sound of his voice. She hadn't heard him speak in days and the sound made her lose her focus.

She was going to miss being with him. How could she have been so stupid? She cried in her heart.

"I am busy now, please come back tomorrow." Ethan felt Hus wolf rattle around his head anxiously. It was mad at him for lying to their mate. But he had no choice. Camilla deserved to be punished for everything she had done.

He didn't mind that she took it from him, especially since it was for her father's treatment and he had more than enough to spare. His pain was based on the fact that she had lied about being sick and even when her games turned in her she continued lying to protect herself thereby putting her father's life in danger.

No, he couldn't just forgive her like that.

"Okay," she whispered with a shaking voice as she walked away from his door.

He had the strong urge to run after her but he had to be strong. He folded his hands into fists and stayed rooted on his bed.

Camilla had to learn a hard lesson.

Camilla returned to her room with a heavy mind and a shattered heart. She knew Ethan wasn't busy. He was never busy by this time. If he was truly working, he would be in his office, and even then he always made time for her. Now he had told her to leave.

Her Ethan had asked her to leave just like that. She used her back to push the door closed and slipped against it.

What was she going to do now that Ethan had refused to listen to her!

"It's all my fault!" She cried pulling her hair out.

She had wasted too much time. Fearing her punishment that Ethan had hardened further.

But she felt a sudden hope in her chest, he hadn't pursued her from the house yet. It meant he still wanted to make things work out. She would not give up. She would continue to fight for his attention until he would give her listening ears.

She wiped her tears and got up from the floor. She would not cry. She would think of ways to approach Ethan, he would have no choice but to listen to her.

She laid down on her bed, thinking of ways to make Ethan listen to her. She made a long list of attempts. She knew he wasn't going to listen to her in the first trial so she cooked up multiple scenarios.

Her phone suddenly rang out and she stretched her hand blindly above the bed stand to get it. Luckily for her, she grabbed it before her long fingers could push it away.

"Hello," she answered without checking the caller Identification.

"Camilla, how are you?" It was Lisa.

Camilla felt another lump start rising in her throat and she felt like crying again. Lisa had warned her about her stubbornness but she didn't listen, she thought she was going to handle it just fine.

"Cam?" Lisa questioned when all she heard were sniffles. "Camilla, are you crying again?" There was an edge to her voice and Camilla knew Lisa was about to reprimand her but she was too weak to say anything.

The fact that someone was even ready to talk to her was a good thing. At least she knew she wasn't all that useless and shameful.

"How many times do I have to talk you that you will be fine and that you should stop crying? Will crying solve anything?" Lisa scolded her on the phone.

"All you need to do is tell Ethan the truth but you have outrightly refused to talk to him. Now your seat in your room and cry all day like a sick person! Woman up Camilla. Ethan isn't going to be the end of the world! Neither will orison!" Lisa hissed breaking her speech before she continued again.

"You need to stop hiding in that room of yours and find a solution! Aren't you even worried about your father? What about that girl that would flip the world around just to get her father treated? Where is that girl?" Lisa continued.

"I tried speaking to him..." Camilla whispered and Lisa stopped talking

"You want to tell him the truth?" Lisa asked. Her voice sounded relieved and Camilla could almost imagine her holding her chest by the window.

"Yes, I am tired of lying Lisa. I want to tell him everything..." She whispered tiredly.

"Go do that already what are you waiting for?" Lisa asked. She couldn't keep her excitement. At least now she could find her father. The worst that could happen was for Ethan to send Camilla out of the house. But even that was not likely, Ethan loved Camilla too much to hurt her.

"He had refused to speak to me..." Camilla whimpered. She couldn't contain her tears. She wanted to just end the pain in her heart. It was killing her. She was tired of having this constant hole in her heart. She wanted to be happy again and she knew that being with her father at least would make her happy. It would heal this pain she felt in her heart. At least to an extent.

"Camilla listen to me. You don't have to give up. I know that it is hard but don't give up. Ethan is probably just hurt that you took this long to come to him," Lisa advised her.

"Thank you. I will keep trying." Camilla whispered.

"And if he doesn't listen to you, don't worry. Just come to me and we will tie him up to a tree okay?" Lisa joked and Camilla managed to smile. Her facial muscles hurt at the movement because even she couldn't remember the last time she had smiled.

"Thank you, Lisa," Camilla whispered again before Lisa blew her a kiss through the phone and ended the call.

Camilla turned to stare at the ceiling in her room. Her heart hurt just a little less and she was even more determined than before.

Since Lisa was with her, no one could be against her. First thing in the morning she would try speaking to him again. He wouldn't run from her.

Neither could he stay mad at her forever. He would have to listen.

Camilla didn't realize when sleep slowly stole her away into its clutches but when she woke up she was certain that telling the truth was truly the best option. She had slept better just thinking about it.
