SNITCHES AND RATS
IRENA
Alexey drove into my compound and parked his mustang in the car park.
He turned to look at me, “Will you be alright?” there was genuine worry in his voice. I didn’t need to tell him about anything going on, because it’s none of his business, but I was surprised at how worried he sounded, it was honestly the last thing I expected from him.
“I’ve been alright and I am alright.” I effortlessly laced my voice with reassurance.
“You sounded worried when you were having that conversation on the phone,” he said, still not sounding convinced. He is being nosy and I don’t feel comfortable about it, I agreed on going on one date with him, not having him questioning me like he is now a part of my life.
“Well, whatever conversation I had on the phone is nothing you should question me about, and not something you should worry about,” I concluded, hoping he would stop prying.
“I am not worried about what the conversation you had is about, I’m worried about you,” Alexey countered. I rolled my eyes.
“As you care?” ensuring to lace my voice with enough sassiness, making him know that I’m not stupid.
“You think I don’t care?” he retorted, “You think I don’t care about you and you decided to go on a date with a man that is uncaring?”
I quickly thought of a reply, hating the fact that he was right. “You could just be doing this for other reasons,” I retorted.
He scoffed, “Really?” his voice was laced in disbelief, “What reasons do you think I might have in mind? Because you can’t say sex, because our second interaction was through sex, you doing the thing you do to get yourself money.” He sounded judgmental.
“And yet you called for the services of an escort I don’t see how the both of us are different, but then we are different.”
“Anyways, the point is that I want you, and believe it or not, I care about things I want.” He was equivocating, but that’s fine. I am too worried about dealing with what Leslie had told me over the phone to indulge myself in arguing with a man whose words mean very little.
“I should go into my home now,” I informed. He opened the door.
“Would you mind if I escorted you to your door?” he asked as I stepped out of his car. I looked at him as if he had said the most offensive thing in the world, which is.
“Yes Alexey, I would mind if you escorted me to my door which is just literally a few feet away, I’m not a fucking damsel in distress.” I reprimanded, staring at him crossly.
“I was only being nice,” he said putting his hand up in defense. “No need to go all feminist and defensive on me.” Did he just fucking say that? Did he just fucking call me feminist?
“Oh my god, did you just say that?” I thundered.
He laughed nervously, “no need to pounce on me, tiger,”
“Don’t fucking make me cancel that date you want with me,” I threatened, glaring at him. Hearing me threaten to cancel the date made his eyes widen in horror for a few seconds.
“There, there, you don’t have to get extra. I'm sorry, how can you be mad at this face,” he apologized. I groaned walking away, fucking cocky fuck I cursed inwardly, but then I like it, I subconsciously found it attractive about him, he was indeed a sexy man, I had to give it to him.
“I tell you when it’s time for the date!” he called out after me.
My chef opened the door for me and I walked in, totally ignoring what Alexey had said. “welcome back Madam,” greeted me as I walked in. I heard Alexey’s mustang’s engine hum as he drove off.
“Thank you, please get me something to eat, I’m starving.” I requested, taking out my phone. I needed to make some calls, how did the council know, who is the fucking snitch. I searched for Valek’s contact, he was a fellow member of the Vampire Council, and a man I trust would give me the information I want to hear. The vampire council consists of all royal heads of the different vampire clans and has been in existence before the great war between the vampires and humans, maintaining balance and making major decisions in the activities of vampires, and after the war; ensuring that the existence of vampires remains unknown to humans.
Valek answered the call on the first ring.
"Good evening Queen Irena," Valek greeted. His voice was adenoidal and would probably be the worst voice you would want to hear through faulty speakers.
"Good evening Valek," I answered in a monotone voice.
"So I'm guessing that you called because you've been informed of the recent issue in the council," Valek stated getting straight to the point.
"Who snitched? How did they find out?" I questioned. I had ensured that all the vampires present had kept the whole thing discrete, so I don't know why anyone would dare snitch, knowing very well what the consequences would be when I find out.
Valek sighed, "To be honest, I don't know." That's not what I wanted to hear and I was getting annoyed.
"You know that is not what I want to hear," I glowered.
The identity of the snitch has been well hidden that even Valek is unable to find out about their identity. If I was among the council members, I would have read their minds and figured out who the snitch was.
"Look, that doesn't matter anymore. It never did and I know well that you know this. No matter what, the other council members are bound to find out."
He was right, and I knew it. Heck, I was expecting it.
"So what are the council members saying? When would the meeting be held?" I asked sighing tiredly
He yawned, " They complained and overreacted as usual, but then is it wrong to justify their overreaction? Our existence would have been exposed to the humans,"
I didn't like this, this is why I didn't want the council involved.
"I've been handling it on my own and I'm very close to ending the whole thing." I asserted matter of factly.
"Look, you say this, I believe you, but the council has questions and they want answers." Valek elaborated.
I sighed again, " I'll see you all at the meeting." I just want this talk to be over. Snitches and rats.
"Alright, take care of yourself." He hung up.
I tossed my phone aside and applied pressure on my eyebrows. This was unnerving, I don't think the council knows that Fabian survived the fight and his whereabouts are unknown.
Flay had prepared something for me to eat, so I asked him to place it on my bed while u take a shower. I expect a riot from the council members, but then that would be their problem because I take orders from no one. Hopefully, they know their limits and when their opinions are of no importance in the decisions I make. I'll find Fabian myself and I'll deal with him when I do. This whole thing started with me and I'll handle it.
And while I thought of things I started, I thought of how my day had gone with Alexey, Magnus would find it extremely hilarious, without realizing it, Alexey might be becoming a part of my life, I mean I had plans to tell him off, but we ended up fucking, and even agreed to go on a fucking date with him, that wasn't part of my plan and fuck! I forgot about Eve again, just like I did the first time.
I had my bath, ate Flay's delicious meal of apple pie and orange juice and then I went to sleep, with thoughts of annoying council members arguing among themselves as they always do.
