Irena
"Is everything okay?" Alexey asked, his perfect eyebrows furrowed in worry.
"I'm fine, I'm fine," I reassured him. "I would like to be alone now please,"
Alexey didn't look like he wanted to leave, but he stood up anyways. "I'll see you later then," he said before closing the office door.
"Queen Ursula" The voice called my name.
"I don't recognize this voice, who are you?" I questioned cautiously and authoritatively.
"I'm the new messenger," the voice replied, "my name is Callum,"
Granted, I was the only vampire with the ability to read and control the thoughts of both vampires and humans. Only the Ursula lineage has the telepathic ability because we are the dire t descendant of Dracula and the telepathic ability can only be passed down to one offspring of an Ursula and as the only child of my parents, I was the only surviving member of the Ursula bloodline with the ability. Despite this, other vampires can contact an Ursula by holding something that directly relates to our bloodline, and then they can speak to us telepathically unless the member of Ursula's bloodline is dead. Our telepathic ability is extremely powerful as we can control the minds and actions of the masses. Being one of the strongest members of the Ursula bloodline, I could control the minds of millions of humans and thousands of vampires.
"Alright, what's the message?" I inquired.
"The meeting of the vampire council will be held tomorrow at the usual meeting place." He informed.
The usual meeting place was in Italy, I have to book a flight to Italy right now because the journey to Italy could be at least twelve hours long.
"Thanks for informing me on time," I commented sarcastically.
Callum hummed in reply and then he was gone.
Thankfully, Lesley walked into the office the instant I needed her.
"Lesley," I called her at once, I want the quickest flight to Italy booked immediately,"
"Alright Madam" she responded, picking up her tablet.
I called Curt to get the best outfit he can come up with for my travel and time in Italy and that they should be delivered to me immediately, before quickly rushing home to prepare got my travel, after telling Lesley why I wouldn't be available for some days of course.
Magnus insisted on coming with me and so we prepared quickly and caught our flight to Russia. It was honestly a long and boring trip and I and Magnus slept throughout the flight.
As a vampire queen, I had subjects from my vampire clan all over the world. After the war, the Ursula clan had the highest number of survivors because we were the strongest, most prosperous, and the largest, thanks to my father, for he had ensured it to be so before he was killed. As a result of our high numbers after the war, I was able to have subjects all over the world irrespective of the non-existence of castles and kingdoms. I had loyal subjects under me, ready to follow my every command from anywhere in the world. With this power and loyalty, I can deal with people with evil hearts easily and swiftly, without raising unnecessary attention from the human government and other humanitarian organizations.
Two of my subjects; Kjov and Harv who act as guards were already at the lobby waiting for our arrival and ready to drive us to one of my villas in Russia. Immediately they caught sight of us, they approached and took our luggage.
"Welcome Queen, welcome Prince Magnus," they greeted in unison.
"Thank you," Magnus replied, while I just nodded.
"Your Limo is just a few feet ahead," Kjov informed us as we walked forward.
"How has Los Angeles been?" Harv asked, smiling as always.
It was one reason I liked Harv, he was always smiling, but could be very dangerous when tested. Kjov on the other hand was too serious sometimes and ironically was a softie at heart.
These two vampires were opposites and best of friends for as long as they have been together.
I smiled, "Fine, fine, I still think the whites are dumb though, you must have heard about most of their illogical movements."
Kjov nodded, while Harv spoke up. " We see it in the news, we can't say that these present races are definitely from their forefathers we fought decades ago." He looked amused and disappointed, I don't know how he manage to maintain two expressions at once.
"Humans have advanced in many ways, especially better technologies, but it seems like the more advanced they get, the dumber and lazier they get, " Kjav noted. Kjav barely spoke, but when he does he speaks facts.
"I wonder how the war would have gone if it had been between these generations and us," Magnus pondered as we got close to a black limo, that's our ride.
"We would win, that's for sure," Harv instantly replied.
"Some of us would beg to differ," Kjav chipped in, opening the door of the limo for I and Magnus to go in. Harv got I'm with us, while Kjav decided to drive.
"Why would any vampire think differently?" Magnus questioned frowning slightly.
"Well, you two are bound to find out during the council meeting," Kjav replied, beginning starting to drive.
"The council members are having major discussions about it?" I asked surprised, what are they thinking? It could be a minor discussion among vampires, but it being a major discussion is not acceptable because it could instigate certain actions and movements even, which would go against the rules set in place to maintain the balance between humans and vampires.
"Nothing to worry about Queen Ursula, it's not a major conversation, not yet. Nothing that can't be cut off at the bud," Harv said trying to reassure me.
But I wasn't feeling reassured, I have a feeling that this is way off the bud and is already a major conversation among vampires in many parts of the world. If vampires begin to tell themselves that they could win a war against present human generations despite it being true, it would be a huge problem and would cause a huge unwanted and unnecessary change globally because we've fought hard to maintain this balance we've gotten, especially me, I've made huge sacrifices and made decisions that have remained fresh wounds through time, after the war, I had wiped off our existence from the minds of humans and erased evidence of our existence, so insinuating such actions would ruin that and change everything.
"It better not be more than minor gossips," Magnus commented grimly, even he sounded like he doesn't believe it.
The rest of the ride continued in silence and ten minutes later, we were at the Villa.
The other staff of the villa was waiting outside to welcome us and I had to admit that I've missed the fun I experience being among these people, although I won't say it's any different when I'm with my family in Los Angeles. Although I don't always hang out with my workers in Sodom City due to my busy schedules, it was fun the few times I do. My girls are crazy and cool and I even though I provide every basic necessity they need, I ensure that they come to me anytime they need help or are in trouble. Most of them are young unfortunate vampires who decide to work for me and be taken care of rather, while they find their way into living better lives.
The vampire world isn't any different from that of humans, there are rich vampires and poor vampires as well as free and imprisoned, basically no different from humans, only that we are way more organized in important aspects like feeding and actions towards humans. Vampires are not allowed to feed off humans unless necessary, blood banks are available to all vampires, and if they have to feed off humans, the humans have to be compelled and made to forget the action and this is made possible because, excluding the fact that only the pure Ursula lineage can read and control minds, all vampires can compel humans and make them do their bidding, including making the human brain erase the memory of the action. Our saliva also can heal bite wounds as soon as our fangs are out, making feeding easier. It is against the law to feed off a human and kill them in the process and it is also against the law to kill humans except during self-defense or something of such sorts.
Apart from those special rules set aside, vampires live like humans and it has been so right from time, having social class and terms like that.
We alighted from the limo and two of the maids immediately took our luggage to our rooms.
"Welcome Queen Ursula," the rest of the staff greeted bowing slightly.
"Thank you," I replied smiling.
Magnus had gone straight to his room complaining about being tired from the journey and that he would talk to the staff later. That vampire acts so humanly sometimes, but in his defense, it had been a long journey, for we had arrived in Italy late morning.
"How have you all been?" I asked as they began to hug me one by one.
" We've missed your presence," Thalia replied on behalf of the rest, smiling.
Thalia was one of my favorite. She was like August, I always inform her that she acts similar to August and since then she had always been fond of August. The two communicate online and August has told me about her plans to move to Russia as soon as she has raised enough money to be stable. I had offered to assist her, but she had stubbornly refused. Who am I to force her to accept help when she doesn't want it?
There was one person I was eager to meet and as I began to look around searching for her, someone called my name.
"Irena?" The voice called, as the person hugged me from behind.
