Chapter 37

  Light Bob

  Irena's POV

"Decided to join us, Queen Ursula?" Countess Shiva drawled in a monotone voice. From her expression, I could tell she was trying to hold herself back from rolling her eyes.

"Miss me?" I was smirking, ensuring to hold her gaze and annoy her as much as I could. But then in my defense, Shiva was an annoying woman, being an elder vampire still doesn't erase the fact that she's very annoying. Shiva is a living example of time being insignificant to character change for some people's life.

"I see you're still a snarky little child Irene," Shiva remarked dryly.

"You have so many wrinkles for a vampire, Shiva," I said in reply as I sat on the seat reserved for me; it was the only seat available, as I had been the last royal head to arrive. Magnus sat a few feet away, in the area reserved for guests.

Lady Shiva looked like she had something to say but decided against it.

"You intentionally riled up this woman," Valek whispered. He was sitting next to me.

  I chucked, "you think?"

He shook his head and went back paying attention to what Stone had to say. Stone was the vampire king of the Western gates which is presently called the United State of America.

"So we've heard the news, Irene," Stone started.

"What news?" I was going to play innocent, act like I am just finding out.

He looked annoyed already, so I blinked rapidly and smiled sweetly.

"There was a fight between some mafia humans and your vampires, is this information true?"

I sighed, "it is true, but I have it under control,"

"You have it under control?" He seemed so unimpressed, but again I didn't plan to impress him. "Did you keep count of the number of humans that were present at the party and the number of humans that survived that fight?" Stone questioned. The other seventeen members of the council except Valek nodded in agreement.

"I did keep count of the number of humans present that day, it a what I have security guards and bouncers-"

"-It's the police, all hands in the air!"

"What's happening?" I asked as armed Russian policemen hoarded into the room pointing laser guns at us. The rest of the council members were equally confused as I was. Most of our security guards rushed in after the police squad. They looked really worried.

"What is going on here?" Lord Manson, another member of the council, repeated.

A man walked out of the Russian police squad, he was dressed as a detective, and I fought the laughter building in me when his completely bald head reflected the light of the room.

"I am detective Bob," he introduced himself, showing us his badge. Of course, he just had to be named Bob.

"How did you get in here?" I questioned. What were the security guards doing? Are they useless? Why are they behind the policemen?

"That doesn't seem to be important madam, I am here for the arrest of Mr. Pompeii Rakov over the murder of Miss Anderson May," we were all in shock, what does Pompeii have to do with a human's death?

He walked towards Pompeii, another member of the council, and took out handcuffs.

"You are under arrest and have the right to remain silent as anything you say or do will be used against you in the court of law," he cuffed Pompeii's wrists as he told him his right. Ponteii was calm, nursing a coy smile.

"Be careful how you choose to spend the last of your time," Pompeii threatened as he laughed.

If Pompeii had killed that girl, then these policemen were in danger as he would easily break the handcuffs and murder the police squad on their way to the prison, and that would cause a lot of work for us because we would have to deal with the camera footage of the whole ordeal.

"Let him go," I commanded, compelling the investigator. Bob began to uncuff Pompeii immediately and the rest of the police squad pointed their guns at me. Annoyed, I compelled all of them to drop their guns and fall asleep. When they all fell on the floor in deep slumber, Bob was staring in shock.

"What have you done to my men?!" He screamed, but I ignored him.

Pompeii tried to leave but I compelled him to stay. It honestly wasn't easy, because he was a strong man that understood how my powers work, but in the end, resistance was futile and I compelled him to take a seat. The only success he had was that he was able to block his thoughts somehow and I was unable to read them. I could if I tried, but I didn't. I would get the answers I want without having to use my powers.

There was a great murmur among the gathering that had formed in the council hall. The guards were talking, the council members were talking. Pompeii, well he has the most obnoxious expression on his face and it was pissing me off.

"Why didn't you make him fall asleep too?" Some of the council members queried and immediately there was silence.

"Before I answer your question, let's all take our seats as Lord Pompeii obediently is, shall we?" I was nursing a small smile. I wouldn't want to explain myself in a disorganized room.

Everyone sat down and I sat too after them.

  "Thank you,"

"Now please give us an explanation for your rash decision. This is a council, you cannot make decisions without consulting us. Over the years, you've been making such decisions and unsurprisingly, you're done the same thing right in front of us!" Homer Arkhan spoke up, he is a vampire council member and the king of Arkhan kingdom. It was a small and insignificant kingdom then, and it still is now. And Homer was a man I don't care about in any way.

"Are you done barking? Since you're the council's dog." I questioned in disgust. He looked shocked at my words before sitting back down angrily.

"Now, -" I turned to face the rest of the council, "-does any of you have something else to say before I proceed?"

They looked at each other unsure of how to respond.

"I see you all have nothing to say then, and so I'll explain,"

I crossed my legs and slowly stared at every one of them. Time to make these fools realize how foolish they are being.
