Loss control
Irena's POV
"What happened?" I asked immediately when we got to the room.
August was awake, but she looked like she had been crying, or still is.
Izzy looked at me worriedly, "August woke up screaming Madam, and then she started crying,"
I was confused but I asked the girls to leave the room, including Magnus, while I sat on the bed next to August.
She was still sobbing. "What's wrong with you love? First of all, how do you feel?"
She sniffed, "I feel okay,"
Then why is she crying? Did something else happen?
" Why are you crying then? Do you want to talk about it?" I was concerned.
She shook her head, " I don't want to talk about it, but I have to,"
She was confusing me, what did she mean by she had to.
"Alright, talk about it then. I'm all ears but first have some water," I attempted to pick the glass of water on the bed table.
She shook her head again, stopping me. "The girls already gave me water when I woke up,"
I nodded, "alright,"
I didn't ask her to tell me what she wanted to talk about, I would patiently wait for her and she would tell me when she felt ready.
“I killed someone Irena, I killed a human,” she blurted out. I was shocked, but I ensured to maintain an expressionless face. I expect a reason for this, a good reason. August wouldn’t kill a human for any dumb reason at all.
“I’m listening,” I replied, watching her attentively. If she had killed somebody, then it might be the human body we saw, but I had to listen to her in case there was more. Maybe she killed someone else because the human we saw was killed like a vampire, so it could be possible that she had killed another human.
“I don't know why I did it- they made me do it!” she exclaimed bug-eyed.
“Who made you do it? You know what, why don’t you tell me how it went from the beginning, right before you left Sodom city,” she was still sobbing, “you should calm down, killing a human is not the end of the world, provided you didn’t do it intentionally, you know the rules,”
She nodded and I handed her some wipers. I patiently waited for her to clean her face, which she did slowly and weakly, and then when she was done, I waited for her to speak up.
“So Lesley called and said that I was needed for a job. She gave me the address because I’ve never been there before, and so I dressed up and drove there,”
I frowned, annoyed. The policy here was that a bodyguard is assigned to every member of my escort going out for a job. That way, they would be protected if they were in danger with them having to use their super abilities and risk being caught. The guards have been trained to use their abilities as human-like as possible to avoid any risk. So why would August go for a job without having a bodyguard with her?
“Why did you go for a job without having a guard accompany you?” I stared at her with a taunt expression on my face.
She looked scared, “I thought I could handle myself. I am stronger than most humans,” she was so stubborn, it drives me crazy sometimes.
“and look where that got you,” I snapped. “I know that you are capable of defending yourself, and you have many chances to do so. But when you are on a job, you have to follow the rules. A guard must accompany you, these guards are stronger than you and will protect you while you are on a job. That was one rule you had to obey August, and I am aware that this is not the first time you did something like this, Leslie has been complaining. I don’t know what I will do if you fucking get killed August. I don’t want you to get killed, you don’t know who these clients truly are and you don’t know what will happen at any moment.”
Her eyes became downcast. “Anyways, that is bygone. Please, by all means, continue.”
She nodded, “I drove there and it was this supermarket. I was very confused, and I decided not to go into the supermarket because there was no way I was meeting a client in a supermarket. The whole thing seemed suspicious to me and I felt very unsafe, that’s when I sent you a text that I needed help,” I nodded, I guess that was a smart thing to do. “I was about to get into my car and drive off when I got hit with something and became unconscious,”
Hmm so it was staged.
“I woke up in a weird-looking place which I figured out later was a warehouse, and there were people around me, five of them I think. All men,”
“Did you get to see their faces?”
She shook her head, “no I didn’t, they were all wearing masks,”
“They were talking to each other but I couldn’t understand what they were saying, it definitely wasn’t English or any other language I could understand, and then they took me out of the warehouse. And made me kneel in front of a man, I could tell he was human, and he was equally confused as I was. There was a sharpened stake in between us, and my car had been driven to the empty space. I was scared that they wanted him to kill me. One of the men came in front of me and whispered something I could not comprehend and then they all left. I immediately lost control of my thoughts and actions. The man started attacking me; well in my head. He had fangs and was trying to impale me with the stake. He was very strong, but I overpowered him and killed him instead,” I then understood why the wooden stake passed through his chest, she had thought he was a vampire and killed him the way vampires are killed.
“After I impaled him, I came back to my senses and I was so scared and ashamed. I was going to run away, but someone hit me again from behind and I fell unconscious again, and I woke up here,”
Now everything makes sense, if everything August had said was true, which I believe is, then magic was involved and she was controlled to kill the human.
“I'm a murderer,” she muttered with a shaky voice.
