Chapter 11

  Damon

Kieran had gone on a mission to bring a witch from a neighboring kingdom so we could ask for her help in finding my mate. I’d been pacing since he’d left, hoping he’d find the witch as I’d been told she was in hiding. She was famed to be a powerful witch.

Pacing in my room, I didn’t hear the knock on my door till the door was pushed open and my Beta walked in, leading the way for a woman with her back hunched to walk besides him.

She walked as though she was about to break any minute from now and I wondered how a woman this old could possibly be as powerful as she was said to be.

As though she can hear my thoughts, she smiles at me with a knowing look in her eyes and raised brows

“I can’t read minds Alpha, do not worry but I can tell by the look on your face that I have seen on a thousand other faces that you are doubting that I can do anything with how old I look, no?”

Smiling guiltily at her, I force myself to keep my incredulous thoughts at her possibly being able to help me.

“I apologize. It’s just you look...”

“Old? Yes. I have been around for a very long time but don’t you think that would make my powers stronger?”

  “I suppose so.”

“I cannot convince you to believe me so let’s begin. What do you want from me?”

“My mate is missing, she was kidnapped by trolls. She left a trail but we lost it and I suspect the trail was masked by a magic spell.”

“Magic? What would the witches want to do with your mate?”

“She’s born from a fae and a guardian.”

The old witch loses her balance and almost falls, I hold onto her before she does.

“A child of a guardian? And she is your mate? Are you sure, child?”

  “Yes. I do believe so.”

Shaking her head vehemently, the witch seems as though she cannot believe me.

“A Fae and guardian Hybrid as the mate of an Alpha? There’s more to this. Alpha, you have to understand that the guardians work with witches and they might have something to do with you thinking a hybrid is your mate.”

“Why is it so far-fetched that a hybrid might be the mate of a wolf?”

The old woman starts shaking and I think she’s about to convulse until I see that she’s laughing.

“Oh Alpha, you know nothing. The mating of an Alpha and an Hybrid of her kind has never happened. Intact, there’s a prophecy on how if it happens, there’s much at play and it might not bode well for supernaturals.”

  “A prophecy?”

Yes child. A child born of Fae and a night walker will birth a child born to a wolf and the child will rule the supernaturals. To be born or to die, will lie in the hands of the one who has the blood of power running in his veins.”

“That sounds like a good prophecy, why is it a cause for fear? It has never happened before. A future that has never been seen, like that of all supernaturals being United is one that seems scary. For centuries, the otherworldliness have been at war, they have fought and killed each other at every chance. The possibility of them getting along and having to be under one ruler, it is not something that seems pleasant to them.”

  “Oh.”

“That’s also not the worst part of this prophecy.”

  “What is then?”

The witch begins to cackle, walking backwards till she is seated at the edge of my bed, she stares straight at me and I notice that her eyeballs are purely white.

“Why, my dear Alpha. You are fated to love two women.”

“What do you mean I am fated to love two women? Wolves are only allowed to have one mate.”

“I did tell you Alpha, the future as told in the prophecy is one that has never before been seen as possible.”

“Why would the goddesses give me two mates?”

“They did not. The goddess gave you a means to break your curse, which is the hybrid and then you were given your true mate who you may not meet till you have had the child of prophecy.”

“So what happens to Carlisle after she has had my child? I cast her away? That’s not fair.”

“The way of the goddesses is not always seen as fair but there’s always a plan. Now, Alpha, do you still want to find the hybrid?”

  “I do.”

Baring her teeth, the witch brings out a sharp looking knife from her bag and begins to chant words I do not understand. Stretching her hand at me, I raise my brows in question of what she may want.

“Your hand Alpha, give it to me.”

Stretching my hands towards her, my sharp senses don’t prepare me for the stab that comes immediately when my hand touches hers. I flinch and try to pull my hand away and she holds on tighter.

“Stay still Alpha. The hybrid is connected to you for as long as she is expected to be your mate, I can use your blood to seek her out. That is the only way it’ll work. The witches working with the guardians are powerful beings so I have to work fast. Any slower and they may cover her scent completely.”

  “Alright then. Go ahead.”

The old witch gives me another toothy grin and increases the pressure on my wounds, as she starts to chant in a language that sounds oddly familiar, yet like nothing I have heard before. As her chants get faster, I begin to feel cold and warmth flow through me and the drops of blood on my hand begin to glow, the witch grabs my hand before the drops can fall off and clean it off a piece of clothing I hadn’t realized she was holding. Noticing my stare, she opens the piece of clothing for me to see and I notice that my blood had covered a line on what seems to be a map.

“Alpha, this is a map. It will take you to your hybrid. If the drop of blood on this dries up before you find her because it only has a day of potency, all you have to do is add another drop of your blood to activate it again.”

  “Thank you madam.”

“You are very much welcome and for your sake, I do hope you find your hybrid and can bring her back before she is turned against you.”

“Turned against me? Why would she be?”

The old witch gets up and hands me the piece of clothing, patting my hands, she smiles at me before she begins to make her way out.

“Go and get your hybrid, Alpha. All I have said will make sense in due time.”
