Chapter 13

  Damon

After the old witch leaves, I sit in my room for an hour pondering her last words, what did she mean? Why would Carlisle be turned against me? And why had I never heard about the prophecy she mentioned before?

It all seemed so strange. I had to get myself to snap out of it because the longer I waited, the less time I had for the map to direct me to where my mate was and although the witch had told me my blood could still revive it, I didn’t want to take chances in case it doesn’t work.

My sister walks in as I prepare to go get my men so we can start the journey. Slowing down her steps as she sees that I am getting up, Arabella smiles sadly at me,

“Hey, are you okay? Was the witch able to help?”

Smiling, I ruffle her hair to get her reaction and as usual her growl makes me smile and gives the desired effect of lifting my moods a little.

“I’m alright Bells. The witch helped. I was just going to get my men so we can set out, we don’t have much time, the more time we waste, the more dangerous it may be for my mate.”

Nodding in understanding, my sister wraps her hands around me and gives me a tight hug.

“Stay safe Dame. I love you. Bring our Luna back.”

Chuckling at her use of her childhood pet name for me, I hug her back. “I’ll be back soon. Protect mum for me, don’t let her worry too much. I have to go now.”

Letting go of her, I kiss her forehead and make my way down the stairs. Kieran scouts me walking down and is immediately waiting for me at the edge of the staircase, “I’ve rallied the men, they are waiting outside. We are set to go when you are, Alpha.”

“Thank you Kieran. Let’s leave now. The earlier the better.”

Kieran leads the way out of my home and I follow quickly, it’s almost dark out, we need to leave before it gets any darker.

Once outside, I face my wolves gathered out, prepared to go to war with me to bring back their Luna and I send a prayer to the goddesses that this is worth whatever we may encounter on our way.

“Thank you for agreeing to do this with me. We have to leave immediately and we have to go as one, stay together, the paths we will be going through are not one we have ventured to before. Ensure that at every point, your wolf is alert. Understood?”

  “Yes Alpha.” They chorus.

  “Alright. Let’s go.”

We figure out a way to avoid crossing the bridge that’d lead us to the evil forest and stick to the paths that look like they are regularly traveled on. By the time we get half way of the way the map is pointing us towards, it’s dark out and we have changed back to our human forms to allow our wolves rest.

I’m lost in thought I don’t hear the moment we are attacked until Kieran shouts at me to look out. We are immediately surrounded by trolls and women in red dresses, who look like witches. I try to change into my wolf form and charge at them but the witches start chanting and I start hearing ringing sounds in my ears, like a thousand voices screaming incoherent words in my ears. My men are down too and within moments, we have been weakened and tied down by the trolls. We are then lifted by the trolls onto a cart of some sorts as they begin to drag us along.

The map the witch gave me to find Carlisle begins to glow as we are dragged further, we must be close to Carlisle now. I begin to comb through my thoughts looking for a plan to get my men and I away from the trolls. I looked up at the sky and it looked as though it was a blood moon. Chuckling at the blessing of the goddesses, wolves were stronger on nights like this.

Using the power of Alpha, I begin to send details of my plans for our escape to mine men through our wolves. By the time the trolls realized what was happening, we’d be long gone.
