CHAPTER 25

  Damon.

Walking behind the old witch, we got to my suite, and a guard opened the door. I walk into my room with my heart pacing in impatient, the look on the old witch's face was unpredictable, it seems something is wrong. I face her and ask her the question that has been roaming in my mind.

"What do you really see in her head, what is the reason why she wants to leave the pack?" she stared at me with an unknown expression. I can't tell if it is a good thing or bad.

"One question at a time, Alpha"

"What do you really saw in her head"

"Well, it was really a hard task, getting access into her head because she was really a strong being but what I saw was really" she paused, staring at me with her eyes piercing into mine. My heart skips, what does she want to say that would make her take a pause.

  "It was really what?"

"It was really bad, after she was captured in this pack, the trolls made it known to her that if she gives birth to a child which belongs to you according to the prophecy, they would use the child as a pulp for their benefits" I look at her with my heart racing. Oh No that must be the reason she is desperate to leave the pack. What am I really going to do. Nethertheless I can't lose her, after so many years of looking for a mate.

"What do you think I can do?"she stares at me and shakes her head.

"I am sorry, there's nothing I really think I can do"

"Okay thanks, you can take your leave"she bowed her head a little and walked out of my suite.

Slumping weakly on the wooden couch, I reach for a large novel on the wooden table and fix my gaze on the novel even though my attention was far from it. I called for Kieran's attention.

Looking up at the door, I scoff as the door makes a squeaking sound, Kieran walks in and bow a little.

"Damon what's wrong with you? You've been acting strange since we went to the club." I only stare at him.

"I don't have your time, get me a whiskey drink right now and don't dare oppose my order!"

"But, Alpha have you forgotten what happened yesterday?"

"Don't dare oppose my order," he bowed his head before walking out of my suite. After a few minutes, he walked in with a bottle of whiskey and a glass cup. He places it on the wooden table and opens the whiskey bottle, pouring the contents of the whiskey into the glass cup. "Thanks, you can take your leave."

He looked at me with a last glance and walked toward the door. He was about pushing the knob of the door when the door pulled open. Someone is about to enter who is that. I don't care.

Gulping down the content of the whiskey, I heave out breathing the heat out of my throat.

"Kieran what are you doing here?" she was already inside my suite.

"My Queen, the Alpha order me to bring him a whiskey drink which I have to do, even though I tried to convince him but he wouldn't bulge."

  "Drink?" She was surprised.

"You can take your leave!" Kieran nods his head and walks out of the room.

"Damon! Why are you drinking? What's the problem?" she asked, pulling the bottle of the whiskey from my grip.

"What's really the problem? What did the witch said to make you really sad?"

"Why ask when you must have heard it with your heightened wolf hearing?"

She looked at me with a glint of sadness. "You can't understand, Carlisle have heard everything even though I don't know what the witch said to you."

"What did she say?" I decided to say it out loud.

"You know when she was captured by the trolls in the pack, the trolls made it known to her that if she gave birth to a child which belongs to you according to the prophecy, they would use the child as a pulp for their benefits." I said, making everything known to her. She looked at me with her face filled with sadness. She can feel my plight.

  "I'm sorry for you"

"The worst part of it, I tried begging her but she wouldn't bulge she said, she want to leave the pack at all cost."

  "You have to take heart."

Sobbing softly, she wrapped her hand around my neck with a weak smile playing on her lips. I know, even though she is trying to be strong, she is weak deep down.

"Don't worry everything will be fine."

"Everything is not really fine at all."

After some moments, I leave my mother in the room and go to Carlisle's room. I can't still let her go, even after all she has done and I want to try at least one last time. After all these years, I can't just allow my mate go. I have gone through so much in the hands of my mate, just to let Carlisle go like that.

Half drunk and annoyed at my present state, I finally reach her room. Her strong cinnamon scent wafts into my nostrils and I take in a deep breath before entering. She is laid down on her bed, covered by several heaps of blankets and immediately our eyes meet, her face hardens.

"Why are you here?" She asks me coldly and I walk towards her with an attempt at a smile. If I need to convince her to stay in the pack, I need to be as charming as I could be.

"I came to talk, Carlisle." I raise my hands in surrender and stop just at the foot of her bed. "I know you're probably angry at me, but I need you to…"

"Stop right there," she says abruptly and rises up, adjusting herself on the bed as she glares at me. "If you came to beg me not to go, then don't bother. I'll leave first thing tomorrow, and be out of your way."

"Please, don't do this. I can't leave without you in my life. You're my destined mate and I need you by my side," I begged again and moved forward, dropping my hands. Carlisle's face crumbled for a second before she twisted it into a frown again and folded her arms.

"I'm not your mate, Damon," she answers and lies back on the bed to face the other side, away from me. "We're only meant to have a child together, nothing more, and I don't plan on that happening.

I look at her in confusion. What does she mean by not being my mate? There are other ways to go around not having a child, and besides, I have the power to stop anything of them from taking my pup away from me. I try to appeal to her again, but she just shuts me down and pulls the bed covers over herself.

After some moments of silence, I fist my hands in anoyamce and glare at her back. "You know what? Since you've decided to prove stubborn and leave the pack, fine!" She still doesn't answer me, but I see her body relax in relief and it makes me angrier. I storm out of her room instantly, and bang the door behind me. I am about to walk away when a thought pops into my head and I face the guard positioned outside.

"You," I speak to him and he looks at me with full attention. "Lock this room right now. Make sure she can't leave here through any means." He instantly nods his head and brings out a key which he uses to turn the lock.

Almost instantly, I hear the soft paddle of her footsteps toward the door. I watch with a bit of interest as she twists the door knob and when it doesn't budge open, she begins to hit it with her fist. "Damon, open this door! Open it!"

I ignore her and move away from the door, but not before I quietly instruct the guard to give her food constantly. I need to keep her here with me, but that would be of no use if she starves to death. As she continues to pound the door and utter swear words I never thought she knew about, a strong wave of sadness floods my thoughts. Carlisle is my mate, the future Luna of the pack and she doesn't deserve to be locked up like a common criminal, but I have no choice. My face hardens again and I steel my features. If she doesn't want to stay, then she'd have to be forced to.
