The taxi pulled up to my building, and I practically threw money at the driver before bolting out. My hands shook as I fumbled for my keys, hyper-aware of the four massive shadows following me up the steps.

Please let the apartment be empty. Please let Daisy have gotten them out in time.

"This is where we part ways," I said firmly, turning to face them at my door. "Thank you for the ride. Goodbye."
