The house felt suffocating after I'd thrown everyone out. My hands were still shaking from the adrenaline, and I could hear the kids whispering upstairs, probably trying to make sense of what they'd witnessed downstairs.

I felt terrible about how things had ended, especially with Liam. He'd looked so hurt when I told him to leave, and guilt was eating away at me. Despite my growing suspicions, he'd been nothing but kind and supportive to me and the children.
