Liam's question hung in the air between us, and I could see something calculating behind his concerned expression. My instincts were screaming at me to lie, to make up some excuse and get away from him as quickly as possible.

But another part of me - the part that was tired of all the deception and games - wanted to just tell him the truth and see how he reacted.
