I sat behind my large desk in the Silverfang estate’s office, staring at the half-empty glass of whiskey in front of me. The dark wood beneath my hands felt cold, almost lifeless, exactly matching the way I felt inside. I took another deep, burning drink, letting the liquid slide down my throat. It did absolutely nothing to help. The monstrous anger sitting in my chest was simply too heavy, too deeply rooted.
