I stood in the doorway, my heart pounding so hard it felt like the walls could hear it. Every head in the room turned toward me.

Their faces—Mara’s cruel smirk, Jasper’s glare, the Queen’s cold frown. I didn’t need to ask what they were talking about. I could feel it in the way their eyes burned into me.
