The house felt too quiet once again after Mom and Dad left for their little post-Paris rounds — dropping off souvenirs to friends, promising to be back before evening.

I should’ve felt relaxed, but instead, there was this restless energy inside me. Maybe it was the hormones settling, maybe it was guilt from the argument, or maybe it was just the silence that made me think too much.
