“Oh I’m sorry I didn’t mean to. Please don’t tell Mr Castillo” my breath was hitched as I looked at Mr Castillo’s friend, Mr Anton.
“Don’t worry I won’t tell him anything if you promise not to eavesdrop again. You know he hates people who don’t know how to mind their own business?” he said, as he patted my shoulder and went into Mr Castillo’s office.
I went away from there before Mr Castillo could find out.
“You know me Angel, can’t you find a way to extend it?” Ares asked, running his hand in his hair. His life was complicated.
“Unfortunately no. You should have applied for the documents when you arrived in the country.” Angel replied. She was the same agent lady who had come to Ares’s office with her colleague.
“You guys are on our payroll. Do something about it or else things will get ugly. Forger the documents or anything to fix this mess.” Anton interjected.
“You know that’s not how we do things Mr Steel. The only solution here is for Mr Castillo to get married to the native of this country or get back to Spain.” Rudy, the agent who had been quiet said. And at that, Ares' eyes narrowed into slits. They darkened so much that the two FBI agents retreated back.
“Get married? Me?``He was not one to get married. All he did was enjoy women. He had them at his beck and call. But it didn’t seem like he had a choice here.
“Sir, it’s either you get married and you’ll divorce after sometime or there’s nothing we can do anymore.” Angel was afraid of provoking the monster even further. They just provided him with a solution: it's up to him to take it or leave it.
After some minutes, the two agents went out, leaving Anton and Ares.
“So, what are you going to do? Get married or go to Spain?” Anton asked, looking at his friend. He seemed to be deep in thoughts. Ares stood by the glass wall and looked down on the moving cars with their noisy honks. It was a sunny day. Late in the afternoon. His right hand was shoved deep in his pocket and his left hand holding a glass of liquor.
“I’ll see what I can do. What I know is that I won’t get back to Mexico. That country is a nightmare.” He stared at the transparent glass shaking it before he sipped the brown liquor. The bitter taste that came from it stung his tongue making him shake his head.
“I get you man. I too don’t want you getting back there. We should do something about that” Anton added, knowing his friend had been through a lot.
“Well then, I need to get loose. I hope Jacob has prepared the room and the girl. I need a good release” Ares said, picking his coat from where he hung it and walking away.
“Thought you’d never say that” Anton chuckled lightly and followed suit.
Time to have fun with some ladies doing something interesting.
….
I can’t believe it has been two months since I’m working for Mr Castillo. I guess time did fly so fast and I managed to pay off some debts. But, I managed to renovate the house a little bit although I think the car would have to wait because I still have to learn how to drive.
And in these two months, Mr Castillo had been very accommodating. He never got angry with me unless it was necessary. And the good thing is that he seemed to enjoy the coffee I made.
But in these two months he had expelled too many employees. Everyone was shocked because of that, afraid of losing their jobs. And now the company was in silence.
…
It was early in the morning when I woke up. A fresh start to a beautiful day. I ate as quickly as I could in order to arrive early. I already talked with my sister like every day when I woke up. I guess she didn’t want me anymore because every time I call her, she sounds irritated or annoyed. And when she calls me, it’s only because she needs money.
Sighing, I took my bag and went on my way.
The office atmosphere was rather gloomy today. It wasn’t so calm and vibrant like any other days. Even the employees were working in hushed tones.
“What is going on?” I stopped by the reception to ask Bonita. Maybe she knew what was happening.
“Well, the boss is gloomy and we all have to be gloomy. And why did you arrive late?” I was always amused at how people got affected by one person’s mood. But, to tell the truth, Mr Castillo sure knew how to change someone’s mood. He sometimes gets on my nerves too.
“I was delayed by a bus, you know I can’t afford a car…because of my sister and staff.” With everything going on I don’t think I get what I want. My sister is a priority right now. I also have to pay the debts that my parents left us with…
“Girl, you need to think about yourself. I know you have a sister, but, do yourself great too” I got her point. But, I just can’t. I want the best for my sister. Give her everything I never had.
“Well, let me leave you to it, I need to see the raging dragon” I smiled and waved at her. She has been so great to me since I arrived at this place.
…
“Indira where have you been? Mr Castillo has been waiting for you. And from what I can tell, things don’t look good for you” Tom rushed to me as soon as I arrived where my office was. In fact he looked so flushed like he had been running.
My heart raced rapidly wondering why the boss was looking for me.
“Do you have any idea why he’s looking for me?” my voice came out shaky suddenly.
“No. I have no idea. Just go to him already” Tom pushed me. Did he have to push me like that when they said he was angry today? Breathing in and out, I took the lift to the 12th floor. I knocked lightly when I arrived there. And I heard a low ‘come in’. Pushing the glass door gently, I entered the lion’s den slowly; praying that it doesn’t devour me. When I entered, his back was facing me. The white shirt he was wearing stuck on his muscular back like a second skin. The perfection of a man…
“Took you long enough to grace me with your presence Ms Lyon. Please take a sit.” his voice took me from my thoughts. Cautiously I sat down.
“You remember you said you’ll do anything I say” I could feel him moving from the glass wall to where he kept his liquor. Did men in business have to drink?
“Yes sir I remember” how could I forget the promise I said to him? He had helped me so should I!
“Well, Ms Lyon. That time has come. You have to help me with a little thing” I heard him say. Has that time come so quickly?
“And what could be that sir?” I shifted in my seat comfortably, waiting for him to speak.
I felt him shake the ice in the glass, as he got closer to me. He stood right behind me, making me more nervous than I was.
“You’ll have to be my wife!” I was shocked to the core. Before I could say anything, he rectified his words. What came out of his mouth was utter abomination.
“Be my mistress, Ms Lyon!”
