Mabel's pov.
"Outside? But...but, it's cold" I blurted out.
He turned, his spiky stare pierced through mine and I smelt danger ."okay sir" I got up and headed out.
"And mind you, you are to go as you are "he added.
"Okay sir," I said as I closed the door.
When I got out, I wiped the tears off my eyes and headed straight outside.
At first, when going out I thought I would be able to do it but immediately I got out and closed the door behind me. The breeze instantly froze me, then I realized it would be tough.
I entered it anyway. Do I have a choice? No, I do not.
The plunges of rain on my body sent shivers round my whole body, the hairs on my body stood. I stood there for up to 30 minutes, my tongue felt numb. The chattering sound of my teeth increased.
"I will survive."
I said that in my mind and gave a quick glare at his window, my bandaged arm got soaked causing the wound to sting.
All this, I was ready to endure to survive.
I had lost track of time now, the rain had stopped But the cold multiplied. I could barely open my eyes nor stand properly when I saw a young man coming towards me with an umbrella.
I stared at him as he came closer and closer then I blacked out.
Beta Alex pov.
Why was I doing this?
Did I just help an omega?
I carried her with all these questions running through my mind, "Maids attend to her she must have caught a cold." I said this immediately after I got into the alpha's house.
"Okay, sir" They echoed.
"Where is the alpha "I asked
"He is in his room"The head maid answered
I went straight to his room, I was ready for his attack, I knew Alpha Lynx, I was going to pay for going against his orders and if I didn't report to him immediately that would be worse.
"Alpha lynx" I bowed in respect on entering his room.
"Alex! " That voice had danger written all over it.
"Yes, my Alpha," I answered immediately.
"It seems like you are now over-exercising the authority you have as the beta of this pack."
"No, My Alpha, I only did that out of…"
"Ahh", I let out as he rushed at me pining me to the wall with a choke.
"Let this be the last time you will go against my authority, you are not the only beta in this pack, your younger brother is also a beta so if you do not tread with caution you will be brought down from this position of yours" He snapped.
"I'm sorry," I said as he released me.
I wasn't shocked, I was expecting this at least. I bowed as he walked out of the room.
Mabel's pov
What happened, How did I get here ?" I let out as I opened my eyes. I tried getting up but my arm was restricted, and the pain was terrible.
I looked at the clock at my side and I was shocked, it was 8 pm already. I remembered the maid said I should always report to the alpha first thing in the morning and later at night, I didn't want any trouble so I had to get to him no matter what.
I managed to get myself out of my bed, I looked at my body and I realized that a good someone had cloathed me.
It wasn't easy, but I left for the alpha's room and announced my arrival. I repeated the sentence an ample of times but no reply, then I heard a sound from inside. Not just movement — violence.
A low, animal-like growl rolled through the door, followed by a deafening crack of wood splintering. Something heavy hit the wall. My first instinct was to run, but the thought of what he’d do if I didn’t report was worse.
I swallowed hard and pushed the door open.
The room was dim, the curtains drawn, but I could see him. Alpha Lynx wasn’t asleep — he was standing by the bed, shirtless, chest heaving like he’d just fought a war. His eyes glowed an unnatural shade, wild and unfocused. His claws — actual claws — dug into the wood of the bedpost, splitting it in two.
Every part of me screamed don’t move, but my voice betrayed me.
“Alpha…?”
He snapped his head toward me. My breath hitched. Those glowing eyes locked on mine, and for a moment, I thought he’d tear me apart.
But then… something shifted. His chest stilled, his breathing slowed. The wildness in his gaze flickered, like a storm cloud breaking for just a second.
I don’t know why, but I took a step closer. “It’s me. Mabel.”
He blinked — once, twice — and the glow in his eyes dimmed. His claws retracted. For a heartbeat, he looked… human again. Confused. Almost lost.
Then it was gone. His face hardened again, and before I could move, he lunged, slamming me against the wall, his hand clamped around my throat.
“How did you do that?” he snarled.
“Do what?!” I gasped, clawing at his wrist.
“Don’t lie to me, slave girl! You—” He stopped abruptly, his grip loosening. He shoved me away, eyes darting like he was trying to make sense of something.
I stumbled back, rubbing my neck, too shaken to speak.
“Get. Out.” His voice was low, dangerous.
I didn’t need telling twice. I instantly ran toward the door, heart pounding so hard I could hear it in my ears.
Out in the hall, I pressed my hand against my chest, trying to breathe. What had just happened in there?
And why, for the first time since I’d met him, had Alpha Lynx looked… afraid of me?
I knew the alpha was an arrogant jerk but I didn't know he would also be crazy,
"What was he talking about in there "I muttered.
"Hey, omega girl." I heard a voice behind me, it didn't sound like the alpha's voice so I wondered who else in this pack had any business with me
I turned and I was astonished. The handsome figure in front of me, somewhat familiar.
I already had a rough day so I ignored him. I didn't feel the need to act nice.
"How dare you walk out on me!!! "
I rolled my eyes as I turned to see the young man who talked like he had a lot of authority, but definitely looked ordinary to me.
"Whoever you may be, I don't care but I'm not cut out for your frolicking. "
"Frolicking? Ha! Well, I am Beta Alex" He said.
My gut fell instantly, what have I done? I swallowed hard.
" I'm very sorry beta Alex, I didn't know you were the one "I bowed in respect.
"Of course you wouldn't, you're a slave so your brain would be retarded as well." He let out with a straight face as he walked away.
"Are all the men in this place this rude"I mumbled to myself.
Alpha lynx POV”
My breathing slowed. Impossible. This was the hour of the curse — the black fog should have swallowed me whole, left me thrashing in rage until it passed. But now… I was in control.
Because of her.
I looked at the slave girl struggling for breath beneath me, and something in my chest tightened. “How did you do that?” I asked, my voice low, dangerous.
She blinked in confusion. “Do what?”
My brow arched. She dared to question me. “Don’t lie to me, slave girl! You—”
My grip loosened, not voluntarily “Get out.”
She obeyed instantly, slipping out the door without another word.
Alone, I flexed my hand. It was steady. No tremor. No claw. The curse of the Moon Goddess cannot be bent — not by will, not by strength. And yet… it bent for her.
“Slave girl…” I murmured to the empty room, my jaw tightening.
“Who are you?”
