Emerald wands contain one or more emeralds: a large one for the wand's end cap, a small one at the wand's tip, or small ones along the wand's length.

Emerald is a variety of the mineral beryl (Be3Al2(SiO3)6) that is colored green by trace amounts of chromium. It is the most famous green gemstone, and commonly used in jewelry.

Most emeralds are mined in Afghanistan, Brazil, Columbia, India, Madagascar, Russia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
