Margaret Fox (also called Maggie) was born in 1833 in the small hamlet of Hydesville, New York. She lived with her parents and two sisters Leah and Kate in a house long rumored to be haunted. In 1848, the family began to hear unexplained knockings and the movement of furniture coming from unoccupied rooms of their house.
