Chapter Two

Vincenzo led me through the dark woods, my heart racing as I struggled to keep up. I had so

Many questions, but there wasn’t time to ask. He stopped at a large clearing where a pack of werewolves gathered, their eyes wide with surprise as they noticed us.

“What is this?” one of them growled, his voice low and threatening.

Vincenzo stepped forward, his presence commanding. “This is Emily. She has come from the rogue pack.”

The group was silent for a moment, taking in my appearance. I could feel their eyes on me,

Studying me closely. Whispers began to ripple through the crowd.

“She’s beautiful,” one of the she-wolves said, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. “Too beautiful to be just food for a rogue.”

“What do you think she’ll be used to?” another asked, skepticism lacing his tone.

I felt a rush of panic. “What do they mean by food?” I whispered to Vincenzo, my voice trembling.

“Don’t worry,” he replied, his gaze steady. “I won’t let anything happen to you.”

But even as he spoke, I could see the unease in his eyes. The pack was buzzing with

Questions, and I could feel their tension mounting. I was an outsider here, and I didn’t know what they wanted from me.

Vincenzo led me into a large, dimly lit building at the edge of the clearing. Inside, the atmosphere was tense, filled with the scent of sweat and uncertainty. I was taken to a room and left alone, the door closing with a heavy thud behind me.

I sat on the edge of the bed, trying to calm my racing heart. The room was bare, with only a small window letting in a sliver of light. I felt trapped and scared, the weight of my situation. Pressing down on me.

A few moments later, the door creaked open, and a young woman stepped inside. She looked nervous, her hands wringing together as she approached me.

“I’m Maria,” she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper. “I’m here to help you.”

I stared at her, unsure of what to say. “Help me? Why would you want to help me?”

Maria glanced around, making sure no one was listening. “I'd heard what they plan to do to you. They’re going to kill you tomorrow.”

My heart dropped. “What? Why?”

“Because you’re a rogue,” she explained, her eyes filled with concern. They think you’re a

threat. But I can help you escape.”

“Why would you do that?” I asked, still feeling skeptical. “What’s in it for you?”

“I have my reasons,” she replied, her voice trembling. “But I can’t explain right now. Just trust

Me.” I wanted to believe her, but something held me back. I remembered Vincenzo’s promise to protect me. “What about Vincenzo? He said he would keep me safe.”

Maria shook her head. “He may mean well, but he’s part of this pack. They’ll do what they have to do to survive. You’re in danger here.”

I felt torn, my mind racing with confusion. “What should I do?”

“Follow me,” Maria urged, moving toward the door. “We don’t have much time." I know a way.

out.”

I hesitated, glancing back toward the door where Vincenzo had left me. I felt a pull to stay, but deep down, I knew I had to make a choice. I couldn’t stay here and risk being killed.

“Okay,” I finally said, forcing myself to stand. “Let’s go.”

Maria opened the door slowly, peering out into the hallway. “It’s clear. Follow me.”

We moved quietly through the dimly lit corridors, my heart pounding in my chest. Every shadow

Seemed to whisper danger, and I felt like we were being watched. Maria led me through a maze of rooms, her movements swift and silent. As we approached a back exit, I heard voices coming from a nearby room. I froze, my instinct sticking in.

“Wait,” I whispered. “What if they see us?”

Maria nodded, her expression serious. “We need to be quick.”

Just as we were about to slip through the door, a figure stepped out of the shadows. It was Vincenzo, his eyes wide with surprise.

“Emily!” he exclaimed, rushing toward us. “What are you doing?”

"I felt a rush of relief mixed with fear. “Maria said I was in danger. She wants to help me.

escape.”

Vincenzo’s expression darkened. “You can’t trust her. She’s part of the pack.”

Maria stepped forward, her voice strong. “I’m trying to save her, Vincenzo! You don’t understand what they plan to do!”

Vincenzo looked between us, his eyes filled with conflict. “You don’t have to do this, Emily. Stay with me. I can protect you.”

I felt my heart race as I faced him. “But what if you can’t? What if they come for me?”

“Then we’ll fight them together,” he said, determination in his voice. “You belong here." I won’t let them hurt you.”

Maria shook her head, frustration showing on her face. “They won’t hesitate to kill her, Vincenzo!

You know that! You can’t keep her safe forever!”

Tension crackled in the air as I stood between them, torn. I wanted to trust Vincenzo, but the

The fear of what was to come loomed over me.

“Emily,” Vincenzo said, stepping closer. “Choose me." Trust me.”

I looked into his intense eyes, feeling his weighty promise of protection. But then I turned to Maria, who was desperate to save me.

“Please, Emily,” Maria pleaded. “You have to come with me now." It’s the only way to survive.”

The choice hung in the air, heavy and thick. I could feel the clock ticking down to my fate. I had to decide.

“Emily, please,” Vincenzo said, his voice softer now. “Don’t run from me.”

I took a deep breath, my heart racing as I faced the unknown. Would I choose the safety of the Pack, or the uncertain freedom that Maria promised?

“Tomorrow is too late,” Maria urged, her eyes pleading. “We have to go now!”

As the weight of my decision pressed down on me, I realized that no matter what I chose, my life would never be the same.

Just then, the door behind us burst open, and a group of werewolves stormed in their eyes.

Filled with anger.

“Get her!” one of them shouted.

I gasped, my heart racing as the weight of the moment crashed down on me. I had to choose

now.

“Emily!” Vincenzo shouted, reaching for me. “Don’t go!”
