Carried away with joy, she kissed her baby and lifted her above her head. “Oh dear Moon goddess, thank you for this beautiful gift. I call her Tala! So from today, my sweetness, your name is Tala because you are special. You are chosen by the Moon goddess to live. Your presence fills me with joy”. She brought her down and kissed her forehead happily.
“Okay, ma'am, you can put her back now,” The doctor said.
“No, I want to go to the room with her. I want my baby with me,” Ashina said as she held the baby to her bosom.
“Ma'am, we still need to observe the baby to be sure that she is okay. It's better if she remains in the nursery for the meantime, okay.”
The doctor persuaded Ashina, but she refused to yield. She kept insisting on going back to her room with the baby.
Meanwhile, Conri had been going from one section to the other for tests and X-rays. He was being taken to another place when they came by the nursery. They had almost passed by when he got a glimpse of a familiar face. Inspector Farcas. He perceived him to be a wolf, and he needed to talk to him. As he paused, staring at him, he noticed another familiar face.
“Oh my moon goddess, that is Luna Ashina, and she has already given birth. I was worried about her and the pups. Thank you, Moon Goddess. They are alive and well. Oh, moon goddess, I want to take a peek at my pups”.
Instantly, he turned and started heading towards the door. The nurse with him realized that the person with her wasn't with her anymore. So she turned and saw him walking away. She called him back.
“Hey, Mr., you are going the wrong way. Come on, the lab is this way”.
Conri paused, a bit confused about what to do. He so much desires to behold the newborn, yet he is a bit nervous as he remembers that his father wanted Luna and the pups dead. Within himself, he knew he would never be able to kill his pups.
As the nurse started walking towards him, he turned and stared at them again. That minute, Farcas turned, and their eyes met. He mindlinked him.
“Guy, I need to have a chat with you. Are you through with your tests?”
Conri was surprised as he stared hard at him. Even his wolf asked him if the stranger was just connected to them. He replied to him that he would find out, but before he could react, Farcas's mind linked him again.
“I guess you are surprised that I could connect to you, well, don't be. All wolves in Sunset City can connect with themselves. Once you set foot in this city, irrespective of which Pack you originated from in Wolf Globe, we become one like a pack,” Farcas explained.
“Oh my sweet goddess, thank you. I am Conri, and I need to talk to you. I am tired of their tests. Please help me out of here,” Conri pleaded.
“Finish up with your tests first”. Farcas advised him, but he opened up to him straight, telling him that he was okay and did not have any memory loss. He explained that he had to pretend because he didn't know anyone to talk to.
“Wow, brilliant actor Conri. You even got me to believe that you lost your memory. Now you have to tell them that you remembered who you are”.
Farcas was glad that he pretended to have a memory loss, but then he realized that he was focused on Ashina. That instant, he became suspicious of him.
“Why do you keep staring at the lady with the baby? Do you know her?”.
At first, he wanted to say yes but changed his mind instantly.
“No, it's just that I admired the way she was expressing her joy with her pup. Did she give birth to only a pup?”
“Ya, and they call them babies here in Sunset City. It would have been two, but the male baby died. The one she is holding is the female child. She named her Tala”.
“Tala is a beautiful name. I need a place to stay. Where is the pack house located?”.
“There are no pack houses here, but I could suggest a place for you. A friend of mine who runs a diner needs a helper in his diner”. Farcas suggested.
“Diner? No, I am a doctor”. Conri objected instantly.
“A doctor? Wow, that is another surprise coming from you. How old are you, Conri?”
“I don't think it matters, but I am twenty-five years old”.
“That's okay, we will talk in a few minutes. Go and get things sorted”.
Inspector Farcas didn't like the idea of more wolves coming into the city, so there would not be any problem. Nonetheless, he decided that he would do his best to help them out in any way he could and kept the hope that they would go back to their packs soon.
Meanwhile, Ashina refused to let baby Tala go. The doctor cross-checked the baby again, and she seemed perfectly okay. So he had no choice but to let her go back with her baby. The nurse helped to push her wheelchair back as she held her baby happily.
Inspector Farcas, Boris, and Ralph walked behind her as Ralph inquired if he had gotten information about her family. The inspector lied that she couldn't remember anything except feeling dizzy and collapsing in a bush close to the road where they found her. Ralph felt very concerned for her.
So on arriving at the room after the nurse left, Farcas told Ashina that he would arrange for a foster home where she would stay until she remembered what happened. Ralph asked if she remembered her name.
“My name is Ashina, that... that is all I remembered”. She responded before Farcas could stop her.
“It's a good thing you remembered your name, what about your husband?”.
“My husband? I.. I..don't know”
She pretended not to remember as she stared from Ralph to Boris and Farcas. Then stared at her baby as if she were directing the question at her.
“Oh, my sweetness, who is my husband? Of course, I have one. You surely have a father. I will surely remember who he is. Oh dear, he might be searching for us. Oh, what do I do? I can't even recall his face”.
Sir Ralph's expression turned increasingly worried, his brow furrowed with concern as he repeatedly urged her to calm down. Eventually, he suggested to Farcas that they publicize her picture to reach out to her people, but Farcas assured him that his team was already investigating the area where she was found.
Then Farcas reassured Ashina, "Don't worry, Ma'am Ashina, I will arrange for someone to take you in until you regain your memory or your people arrive."
To everyone's surprise, Sir Ralph offered his own home as a temporary refuge for Ashina and her baby.
Initially, Ashina declined the offer, much to Farcas's relief. However, Sir Ralph persisted, insisting that he wanted to help until she was back on her feet or her people claimed her. Ashina expressed her reluctance, fearing she would be a burden to him and his wife. Sir Ralph clarified that he was unmarried and would be happy to have them in his home. Ashina paused, weighing her options, her mind racing with uncertainty. Farcas mind-linked her, advising her to decline the offer, but she unexpectedly accepted Sir Ralph's hospitality, leaving Farcas surprised and concerned.
Sir Ralph was delighted to offer his assistance, but Farcas harbored concerns about Ashina's decision to accept his hospitality. Boris, noticing Farcas's unease, reassured him that he would keep a watchful eye over Ashina and her baby.
Meanwhile, Farcas and Conri discussed the latter's future, and Farcas helped him obtain the necessary papers to work as a doctor after passing his exams. However, Conri didn't get the chance to connect with Ashina and baby Tala, and when he inquired about them a few days later, he was told they had already left with Sir Ralph and were safe.

A year later
Initially, Conri wanted to gather more information about Sir Ralph to ensure their safety, but he refrained from doing so to keep his connection to Ashina and her baby hidden from Farcas. Besides, he feared that Ashina might think he was around to end her life just as his father instructed. Nonetheless, he cherished the hope of one day reuniting with his daughter; he pushed the thought aside, missing Tala for years.
Nine years passed, and Conri's life took a new turn when Priestess Reika from his pack arrived in Sunset City, seeking him out. After exchanging pleasantries, she delivered news that left him less than thrilled.
“Conri, we had no time, your father is dead, and I am sorry for your loss,” The priestess said.
Conri felt bad as he asked her what had happened to him. Reika explained what she knew.
“After they took Alpha Gonzalo and his people into captivity, the three Alphas decided to share the Moonstone territory. Unfortunately, they couldn't reach a particular agreement since all of them wanted the best part of the territory. The issue got them into a serious quarrel. They were still at loggerheads with each other. Then they woke up one day and found the three Alphas that attacked the Moonstone pack all dead with their Betas and a few warriors. She went on to explain that the moon goddess had chosen him to rule the four packs as the new Alpha king.
So Conri was crowned as the new Alpha king, but he returned to Sunset City, running many businesses and still keeping his wealth and identity hidden by working as an ordinary doctor.
All was good except that he was a lonely man since he couldn't find his mate or Tala, but eight years later, he perceived and saw her mate.
