Victor got his relationship advice, after that, they sat down to talk about other things. It was getting late so they decided to cut it short and contact each other later.
"Let me walk you home, Miss Ava." Victor smiled.
"No worries. I want to stay over a little bit." Ava said. Though she met some kind of different characters today. The last person always offered to take her home.
"Really?"
"My home is ten minutes away. You shouldn't get home late because of me."
"I wouldn't mind."
"I would mind. You need to sleep early to grow up well. Leave now." Ava pushed him away and he protested.
"I think I'm too old to still be growing and my house is not really far away. It's just a twenty minutes drive or so."
"Look here." Ava started, her expression turning serious. "If you walk me home, we'll spend ten minutes going to my house, ten minutes you'll spend going back and another twenty minutes going home. All together, forty minutes... that means it will get darker before you get home."
Victor pursed his lips as he listened to her; she continued.
"And you said you just went for an eye appointment. Do I look like someone who wants to be called by your parents late in the night?"
"Why are you overreacting. The result was nothing serious and I only have to take eye drops." He knew he shouldn't have told her anything about that!
"Well now, go home and take your eye drops according to prescription." Ava smiled. "I'll be fine. My parents probably have some bodyguards hanging around me, out of sight."
"Probably?" Victor wasn't buying it.
"Here is the deal, young man. If a lady tells you that it's alright, then believe her, don't push it."
Victor tensed up, thinking Ava was angry. But he had a deadpan look when she finished talking.
"But! If it's your girlfriend, escort her home! Now what do you think is the difference between your future girlfriend and me?"
Victor stared at Ava, silently and she sighed.
"She's a future girlfriend and I'm a future friend who is a girl."
"Future friend?" He interrupted.
"Right now, we're acquaintances. We will properly be friends after today. When we talk to each other more."
"I don't understand you at all." Victor shook his head.
Ava didn't pay him any mind; she continued. "Anyway, when you get back, tell her about this blind date, it's better she hears it from you than from some else. After all, there are a lot of eyes in this place and some people have big mouths."
Victor was silent for a while. "So what you are saying is that you want me to go home and leave you alone."
"Yes, exactly that." Ava nodded and he sighed.
"Fine. Just go home later, okay." He stood up and waved at her. "I'll send you a message later."
"Sure, sure." She waved back as he left.
Thankfully, he left without much force. It was getting dark so Ava ordered some food to eat quickly before she left.
She opened the file to leave a remark as usual. As her pen stopped on the paper, she wondered what to write down. Since her mother said her words felt like she was review job applicants, she had to write something else.
Maybe a long sentences of their conversations? No. Her mom would nag her again and more importantly, the space wouldn't be enough.
She wrote a few words before she took the elevator and went downstairs, heading back home.
The wind was strong as Ava walked out. She looked up and stared at the dark sky. Was it going to rain?
She better walk back quickly. She didn't bring an umbrella. The last thing she wanted was to get a fever after getting soaked in the rain. What would she do about the next three days if that happens.
She had walked away from the hotel when someone called out to her.
"Hey, Ava, are you heading home now?" The voice sounded familiar. Ava turned back to see the face.
Under the street light, she squinted a bit, focusing her eyes. "Mr. Derrick. What are you doing here?"
She watched him drive off when he left, how was he still here. It was her seventh date from today. The one who left the bad review and had a lot of requirements from a wife.
"Coincidentally, I had some business to attend to, which led me here again."
Ava smiled, wryly. His tone was a little different from the time they met.
"Well now, it was nice to see you again. I better be going before my mother get worried." No, it wasn't nice to meet you.
"Right. You shouldn't make your mother worried. How about I drive you home?"
Hmm? "No thank you. I'll prefer to walk home. I'm taking this as a post dinner exercise."
"I'll escort you then." Ava smiled dryly at his words. No, please don't.
"Thank you, but I can manage on my own."
Ava wanted to go as far as possible from this guy. She got a whiff of alcohol from him as he spoke. Was he drunk?
The smell wasn't that strong so he might not be drunk. It would be a different matter if he was a lightweight. The place was a little too dark to tell from his face.
Ava turned away from the man and began walking home. Tried to anyway. She felt a strong force pulling her backwards.
Derrick had dragged her to him. She let out a strong yelp as she fell backwards into a man's chest.
"Hey! What are you doing?" She shouted at him only to be met with strong arms wrapping around her. He didn't answer her.
He rubbed his face on her skin and when he tried to kiss her neck, she shifted away but his arms where still caging her. "Let go of me!"
Derrick still didn't respond as Ava struggled, trying to pry his hands off her body.
Nathaniel was packing to head home when he noticed that Ava had left already. Over the course of her dates, there was one time her expression was tense, he hoped that she was doing fine.
Nathaniel wanted to laugh at himself. He hadn't even talked to the lady nor did he know her; yet he was worried about her.
He was driving out when he saw Ava and another man talking at a distance. It was getting dark so he wondered if she was being escorted home.
He wanted to drive away until he saw the man grab her and how she struggled to move away. At that moment, he didn't think about anything. He ran out of his car and rushed towards them with speed.
"Let go of her..."
Ava felt Derrick's hands trying to wiggle into her clothes. The impolite bastard had the balls to get drunk and try to take advantage of her!
She raised her foot and stomped hard on his leg. When he hissed and pulled back because of the pain, she elbowed him in the gut and threw his hands off her body.
She watched as he hissed in pain. She could see his glare even in the dark street.
"What is wrong with you? Can't I just play around!" He snarled.
Ava watched as he covered his stomach and groaned. Her eyes had a glint in it that was growing.
She raised her leg, held his hair tightly and kicked him in between the legs. His face turned several shades darker as he groaned and fell to the ground. "Ahh!"
Ava smiled sweetly. "What's wrong with you? Can't I just play around?"
"You bitch!" Derrick groaned, his eyes red. "I'll make you pay!"
Ava smirked at his expression. "I think you've gotten it all wrong. I'm the one who is going to make you pay."
Derrick's breathing got heavier as he watched Ava's eyes grow into crescents as she smiled.
"From the moment I met you, I've been itching to send you to the hospital."
Ava punched him square in the face and Derrick's eye sight turned dark. He collapsed on the floor.
Ava frowned, and shook the guy, pulling him upwards by his collar. "Hey! Wake up! Just one punch and you dozed out? What kind of guy are you?"
Even her mother wouldn't faint from a punch. Maybe it's because he's drunk?
Ava sighed, she was going home late and her parents would hear about this soon.
She looked around, hoping the bodyguards were near. She did really want to put this guy in a hospital.
In the dark, she sighted a man watching her with wide eyes, close by.
"Hello." She waved with a smile, still holding on the Derrick's collar; his limp body swayed.
Nathaniel took a hurried step back.
This made Ava frown; did she look scary?
