I stared at the phone in my hand, the weight of the decision I was about to make settling into my bones. It wasn’t that I wanted to confront him, Jason. He had been there for me, and I couldn’t deny that. But sometimes, his protectiveness over me, his constant need to guard me from every little thing, felt like a chain wrapped around my heart.
