Joey washed up and spread her blanket on the couch. She was about to lie down when a knocking sound came from the door. She bolted up and asked Zachary in a low voice, "Did you lock the door?"
Zachary glanced at her and asked loudly, "What is it?"
Maisie answered, "Mr. Zachary, it's me. Madam Rose prepared fresh yogurt tonight, and she asked me to take a bowl of it for Madam Joey. If you haven't slept, I'm coming in!"
With a click, the door opened.
Joey jumped out of the couch and quickly stuffed the blanket under the bed. She reached the bed before Maisie came to them, squeezing into Zachary's bed and pulling the covers over them.
The moment Joey rushed into the bed in a hurry, she accidentally bumped her head into Zachary's chest. They groaned in pain at the sensation. They sounded pretty suggestive late into the night.
Maisie, who had swiftly made her way to the bed, had to stop and ask tentatively, "Mr. Zachary, Madam Joey ... May I come in?"
Zachary bit back the pain. He glanced at the top of Joey's head, which was the only part of her body not covered by the sheets. There was an inexplicable
emotion in his eyes as he said, "Yes, you may come in.
Joey revealed herself from under the sheets as if she had been there the whole time. She ran her hand through her messy hair and said with a smile, "Ms. Maisie, hello."
She was about to get out of bed, but Maisie quickly stopped her. "Madam Joey, you don't have to come out. I'll bring the tray to you. You just have to finish the yogurt, and I'll take it away."
Joey noticed that her side of the sheets was not neatly tucked, which was a stark contrast to Zachary's nicely made side of the bed. Maisie would realize Joey wasn't sleeping there if she came closer.
Joey made a quick decision and pinched Zachary hard under the bed. Zachary's calm expression turned into a grimace, and his face quickly flushed. He sat up from the bed and extended his arm toward Maisie.
"I'll take it," he said.
Maisie handed the tray over and said, "Sure, you can feed Madam Joey."
Zachary's movements paused a little at that
suggestion. His thin lips had a subtle smile. He swiftly placed the tray on the shelf on the headboard. Then, he held the bowl and scooped a spoon of yogurt, passing it to Joey's lips.
Joey was utterly speechless. She couldn't figure out Zachary's thoughts and stared at him in confusion.
Zachary quirked his brow. His gaze shifted from her pretty face to the spoon. He had no intention of retracting his hand.
Joey wasn't an easily flustered woman, and she
genuinely loved Zachary in the past. However, it was the first time they were so close in front of someone else.
She knew clearly that it was all for show. She knew, but her heart still fluttered.
However, she soon came to her senses. Zachary now belonged to Julia. Joey figured that Zachary was not going to help her refuse the yogurt. She thought about it and said, "I'm not really comfortable with
eating in bed."
Maisie stared eagerly at the yogurt. It was right at Joey's lips, but Joey wouldn't eat it!
Maisie came up with an excuse to persuade her. "It's okay, Madam Joey! It's just for one time. Mr. Zachary
has never fed anyone food like this, you know!"
Maisie was not going to back off until Joey ate the yogurt. Joey sighed and opened her mouth, swallowing the yogurt as Zachary fed her.
Since they sat together, Zachary's hand came into contact with Joey's cheek. She had warm, smooth skin, which felt pleasant. Her red lips were more
enticing under the lights.
Zachary gulped and forgot to move the spoon for a
while. He asked, "Is it good?"
Maisie quickly said, "Why don't you try it too, Mr.
Zachary?"
Joey didn't want Zachary to share the spoon with her.
It would make her feel as if they kissed and their mouths came into contact. She grabbed the bowl and downed the yogurt in one go. She even quirked her eyebrow teasingly at Zachary and said, "Yeah, it's
pretty good."
Too bad the jerk couldn't eat it. Take that, Zachary!
Zachary found Joey's actions adorable and scoffed in amusement.
Maisie looked at the two of them and quickly took
away the bowl and tray. She slipped out of their room
quietly.
Rose was waiting right at the door. She would stick
her ear against the piece of wood as if she could hear what went on inside. She saw Maisie coming out with an empty bowl, and her eyes lit up.
She asked Maisie, "Did she finish everything?"
"She did!" Maisie whispered. "Too bad only Madam
Joey ate it."
Rose replied, "That's okay. Zachary won't be able to
hold back if he's a real man." She was definitely going to get a great-grandson!
Rose instructed Maisie with satisfaction, "Go and wash the bowl now. Make sure it's squeaky clean. We wouldn't want to leave any traces."
