“Davina!” Carlotta burst into the room with Ravi at her heels. Her cheeks were flushed and her eyes wide. “Is everything alright?”

I offered her the letter. “He left this for me the night of your ball.”

She took it and I watched as her eyes whizzed through the letter like mine had.

By the time she got to the end, they were glistening with tears.

She folded the letter and looked up at me. “So you were right to trust Diego.”

“Did you have doubts?”
