Santo seemed dumbfounded, gawking at Diego in bewilderment. His gaze swung to me and he did a double-take. “Davina?!”

I gave him a wink. The adrenaline crash was making me giddy, like I was high or dreaming. “Hi, Santo. You don’t happen to have a caramel in your pocket, do you?”
