Davina was pacing when I entered.

The tracks in the carpet said she’d been at it for a while. I watched her bare toes trail through the lush nap of the rug before I dragged my gaze up her legs, past the belly growing a life we made, and to her face.

The soft smirk playing at the corners of my lips curdled into a frown when I saw her eyes.
