I dropped a kiss on Ravi’s head before Dad ferried him off to bed.

The moment they disappeared into Ravi’s bedroom down the hall, the atmosphere in the living room shifted.

It wasn’t the first time Diego and I had been alone since he showed up. But it was the first time he was here, in my living room, consuming space I’d always considered sacred. Intimate. Protected.
