I rushed to the bathroom, pulling the door open, but found nothing. There was no sign anyone had been inside. My steps quickened as I strode back to the bedroom, scanning the space again. If she had walked to the living room, I would have seen her outside. I hadn’t heard the door nor sensed anyone near the precinct.

"I don’t think she’s gone far. We should check around," Arric said.
