My heart raced fast the moment I heard movement behind us.

I quickly snapped my head back toward the entrance, and my eyes met with Lian. My heart jumped violently in my chest, and I wanted to stand up from Kai's lap, but he held me down tightly.

I looked back at the door again, and Lian was gone.
