“What!” Lian shouted, looking at me, and I nodded. I moved closer to him and pulled his hands away from Jake, separating them.

“Let’s go, I will let you explain as you said,” I told him, my voice sharper than I intended.

Jake scoffed, that mocking sound crawling under my skin.

“Do you know I called you here?” Jake said, his tone sharp.
