I had been feeling a wild mix of emotions: anger, frustration, relief and fear. But once I saw Sara none of that mattered. I pulled her in close to me and let her cry. She mumbled apologies profusely, and all I could do was try to sooth her. There was no point now in pointing out that I had told her this would happen, that I tried to warn her. She knew that. She already felt bad enough. I didn’t want or need to make that worse.
