All the kids had gone home for the night. I was finally relaxing in pajamas and eating leftover pizza. I turned on the TV to some 90s sitcom and settled in. I pulled my knees up and leaned into the pile of pillows that Liz had brought.

I almost screamed in a panic when the door slammed open and Liz came in crying. At first I thought she had been hurt or attacked. I threw down the pizza and jumped up, taking her quickly into my arms.
