Whimpering.

I sat bolt upright and reached for Sasha. Tears glistened on her cheeks in the moonlight. I touched her shoulder and she cringed away from me, sniffling and whimpering again.

“Sasha,” I whispered. “Wake up.”

She kept crying. I shook her and tightened my grip on her shoulder.

“Sasha!”
