That evening, after much persuasion, Dr. Craig finally agreed that Lorraine could be discharged. Her temperature had dropped, and he said she only needed rest and some medication.

Aiden thanked Dr. Craig, who soon walked away to attend to other patients. Then Aiden turned to Lorraine.

“I’ll call you,” he said as they all walked out of the hospital together. “And if you’re feeling better tomorrow, let me know.”

Lorraine nodded slowly, still looking a little weak.
