Aiden ended the call when silence met him on the other end. He dialed again, but this time the phone just rang without an answer. A knot of worry tightened in his stomach. He left his office at once, striding into the elevator, his thumb never leaving the redial button.

"Pick up, Jesse… pick up," he muttered, his jaw tightening with every unanswered ring.

At last, someone picked up.

"Jesse."

But the voice on the other end wasn’t calm, it was hurried, shaken...

"The owner ...
