The auction was loud and elegant, the kind of event where every smile hid a motive.

I sat beside Flint, pretending to watch the bidding while my eyes kept drifting to Morgan across the hall.

Luna Katelyn had just called him over to introduce him to the witch Georgiana. I could hear fragments of their conversation from where I sat.
