The crowd had gone silent. Morgan still had one arm around Lola, holding her close as if daring anyone to question it.

Lola’s heart raced as she stared up at him, still trying to understand what he was doing. Her palms felt clammy, and her legs felt too weak to hold her weight, but she forced herself to stay still.
