Lola’s father was sitting in the main room when she came home. His tone was firm as soon as she stepped in.

“Morgan is not a good person,” he said. His eyes held no softness, only warning.

Lola straightened her shoulders. “You’re wrong about him. He’s helped me many times. He’s not what you think.”
