I had been sitting at the bar for over an hour.

The club was loud. The kind of loud that's supposed to make you forget things. Bass coming through the floor. Lights moving across the walls. People pressed together on the dance floor, doing exactly what you're supposed to do in a place like this. Not thinking. Just moving.

I wasn't moving. I was sitting at a bar stool, holding a glass I kept refilling but never finished.
