I stared at the glowing screen in Dominic’s hand.

“Ironclaw Pack Beta?” My voice was tight. “What… what is going on, Dominic?”

His gaze flicked from me to the phone. The call cut off, and the vibration silenced.

He slid the phone back into his pocket, his voice even. “It’s not what you think. The Beta is an old acquaintance. Someone I knew before I ever came here. Sometimes he calls for help with personal matters. That’s all.”
