Teresa stood at the edge of the pool, arms folded as she watched Evelyn and Dominic. The way he leaned down to murmur something only she could hear, the way Evelyn’s smile softened just for him, made Teresa’s chest ache with a mix of envy and warmth.

She’d always laughed at love, called it nothing but trouble wrapped in flowers. But seeing Evelyn like this, safe in Dominic’s quiet strength, she whispered to herself, “Maybe it does exist after all.”
