Rue’s POV

As we drove off to the campus, Vicky tugged at the hem of her blouse for what felt like the hundredth time.

“Do I look too overdressed?” she asked, glancing at her reflection in the visor mirror. “It’s our first day. I don’t want to look like I’m trying too hard.”

I smiled faintly. “You look fine. It’s college, not a royal summit.”

She laughed nervously. “I don’t know Rue, campus people can get really judgy.”

Golden League University came into view.
